Prepare to be scent to your favourite holiday destination…

Whether it’s the sweet smell of a tropical island, a romantic day trip to Milan with your Italian lover, a cultural immersion in Florence or a colour explosion in Kyoto that you’re after, Glasshouse Fragrances’s new fine fragrances, the Eau De Parfums, will transport you there in just one spritz. For those of us stuck in lockdown, consider it a glimpse into your future. For those of us lucky enough to be able to travel, consider it a keepsake to immediately teleport you back to the good times when normal life gets a little too much.

If you’ve been around the beauty space for a while, it’s likely that the name Glasshouse Fragrances will be ringing a bell right about now. If you’re anything like us, you went through a phase of gifting all of your loved ones with one of the luxurious Glasshouse candles (truth be told, we’re still very much in this phase). After all, the brand, founded in 2006 by Nicole Eckels, is iconic for a reason.

But, like any good entrepreneur, Eckels knew when it was time to—forgive us here—pivot. Wanting to take her brand to the next level of quality and luxury but remaining at the accessible price point that is synonymous with the brand. Dreaming up the idea of a new line of fine fragrances in 2018, Eckels enlisted the help of renowned fragrance bottle designer (he’s worked on the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior and Chanel), Pierre Dinand, to bring the vision to life.

“The brief was to create an elegant, timeless and unisex bottle with a modern twist that would be versatile enough to work with all the fragrances in the portfolio,” Dinand tells Gritty Pretty. “Working with Nicole was collaborative as she always reacted fast to my suggestions. She had a detailed concern for luxury and quality and the experience was similar to working with the likes of Christian Dior.”

Three years and many prototypes later, the attention to detail is evident in both the bottles and the fragrances that form the Eau De Parfum collection: Kyoto in Bloom, Midnight in Milan, Forever Florence and A Taaha Affair Devotion. “Glasshouse fragrances prides itself on its excellence in creating fragrance experiences that uplift and transport you from where you are to where your imagination might take you,” says Dinand.

The best part? While yes, these fine fragrances do look impeccable on your vanity, they are also able to whisk you away to a dreamy location with ease. Each containing notes reminiscent of a particular place in the world, we can’t go past taking just a few moments each day to immerse ourselves in the beauty of Glasshouse Fragrances’s Eau De Parfums.

Kyoto in Bloom

Dreamt up by perfumer Kent Lombard, Kyoto in Bloom contains notes of camellia and lotus to round out what is an oriental yet floral fragrance. Grounded in base notes of sandalwood, amber and patchouli and with sparkling top notes of pineapple and citrus, this fragrance will transport you to the magical cherry blossom forests of Kyoto in a single spritz.

Midnight in Milan

The brainchild of perfumer Dalia Izem, Midnight in Milan is a bold chypre floral fragrance with rose and jasmine on the nose. Based with notes of moss, dry amber and cedar and opening with top notes of saffron and blackcurrant, you’ll feel like you’re dancing in Milan with your lover in no time.

Forever Florence

A powdery floral fragrance by perfumer Steven Claisse, Forever Florence dazzles with notes of wild peony and lily. With woody base notes of sandalwood and musk, the fragrance opens with bright notes of peach and pear to teleport you to wearing a sundress while sipping wine in a Florentine vineyard.

A Taaha Affair Devotion

Arguably the most decadent of the Eau De Parfums, A Taaha Affair Devotion, which was created by perfumer Dominique Bouley, is the ultimate gourmand floral fragrance. With notes of star jasmine and polynesian hibiscus, grounded in the warmth of creamy sandalwood and brown sugar caramel, the scent opens with a sparkling sea salt accord to invigorate the senses and transport you to your favourite tropical island destination.
