7 Beauty Products Our Editors Can’t Get Enough Of This Month: January 2022
What we’re loving, coveting and “borrowing” from the Gritty Pretty beauty cupboard this month.

“One of the first fragrances created by Coqui Coqui, Coco Coco Eau de Parfum, is inspired by the shores of Tulum. I was fortunate enough to travel to Tulum 10 years ago and if you’re like me and your heart is pining to travel once again, this scent will transport you there in a single spritz. Capturing it’s essence in a coconut fragrance with fresh, verdent notes and a velvety, vanilla finish; Coco Coco takes you to a warm place you really want to be.”

“While it’s true that I’ve never met a CHANEL makeup product I didn’t like, CHANEL’s Baume Essentiel highlighter is one of my all-time favourites. I love a good stick highlighter for ease of application and the surface area is the perfect size for dabbing onto the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, Cupid’s bow, etc.—not too big, not too small. The formula is a beautiful balm texture, leaving a hint of illumination for a lit-from-within look.”

“At risk of sounding dramatic, I think I just found my favourite shampoo and conditioner of all time. Big call, I know. But the Nécessaire Shampoo & Conditioner duo is a slice of hair heaven. Formulated with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and panthenol for a shower experience that is both nourishing and effective, my hair has never felt better. Oh, and the packaging is oh-so chic so we all know I was never going to be able to say no.”

“I had been struggling with a thinning hairline for quite some time before the Pump BioGro Hair Growth Serum landed in my lap. The formula itself is lovely to use–lightweight, non-sticky and quickly absorbed. I simply applied it twice a day to my roots, focusing on any extra-bare sections, and noticed a difference in just two weeks. Winner!”

“As I have been blessed with a very thick head of hair, wrangling it over the summer months has always been quite the challenge. I have also tried a lot of hair oils in my time–some hit, some miss–but Oribe’s Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil is a definite hit. For starters, there’s the signature Oribe scent (read: heaven)–but the thing I really like about this oil is that it’s very lightweight and my hair doesn’t get that oily feeling. Instead, I’m left with soft, shiny tresses.”

“Boy does this feel nice! Not quite a Barbara Sturm devotee yet, but this certainly got me closer. A little cocktail of hyaluronic acid, ginseng extract and cress sprout extract, the Brightening Serum worked wonders on my summer skin. Those cheeky sun spots! It nurtured and brightened and gave my skin all the love it needed.”

Special Projects Producer
“It’s no secret amongst the Gritty Pretty team and I am a little sunshine worshiper. Thankfully the GP girls have my back and have drilled into me the importance of including SPF into my skin routine every single day–they aren’t shy to remind me to reapply sunscreen and wear a hat (especially when shooting our cover, outdoors, on a 28 degree day!). I was so excited to finally try the Ultra Violette Queen Screen SPF 50+ Luminising Serum Sunscreen. It truly lives up to the hype. This hybrid serum has a lightweight, velvety texture and sits so beautifully under my makeup. For days by the beach, I love simply wearing it on its own for a subtle glow.”
*Hot tip: for thin-haired pals like myself, try applying a small amount of this serum to your scalp for extra protection on those scorching summer days.
