Our 5 Favourite Nail Salons In Australia & New Zealand

Keep the paws and claws in check with these dreamy nail havens.

There truly is no better feeling than a fresh manicure or pedicure. Something about having perfectly trimmed cuticles and beautifully buffed nail beds just makes you feel like you’ve got your shit together.

But better than the result itself is taking an hour to yourself to sit back, relax and be pampered. Hand massages, foot scrubs and, in some cases, even a luxuriously comfortable bed, we roundup the five best nail salons in Australia and New Zealand. Believe us when we say, you will never look back.

The Parlour Room

Randwick, NSW

If you’re all about natural skincare, The Parlour Room is definitely one to add to your list. Based in Eastern Sydney is the spacious sanctuary that feels miles away from the bustling streets of Clovelly. With plenty of fresh flowers and marble abound, the salon is luxurious from the front door all the way to the treatment rooms—which includes a group treatment room that is beyond perfect for a girls’s trip or bridal party. While The Parlour Room has become known for its next-level manicures, fleeky brows and luxurious waxing experiences (yes, waxing can be luxurious), it’s arguably the tanning that is second to none. Ask anyone—if you want the best tan ever, The Parlour Room is the place for you.

Bliss Beauty & Body

New Lambton, NSW

Bathed in natural light and soft pastel interiors, Bliss Beauty & Body is a welcome retreat where you can escape the daily grind to relax, unwind and treat yourself to an above-and-beyond experience. Backed by over a decade in the industry, the attentive, professional Bliss team are dedicated to delivering high-quality yet no-nonsense treatments, with their menu ranging from facials, LED light therapy and massage to beauty offerings including tanning, nails and lashes. We tried the Dermalux Light Therapy Facial, which combined LED light therapy with exfoliation that left our skin with the most incredible glow. Consider this one of Newcastle’s must-visit beauty spots.

INCO Studio

Auckland, NZ

Located inside the old Ponsonby fire station, the peach-pink walls are warm and vibrant, and the lights and flowers are gorgeous. But it’s the details that most impressed: each work station is sectioned off (so you can chat privately with your stylist or sit quietly, undisturbed) and equipped with customised artwork, books and magazines, a coat hook and a US outlet to charge your phone and laptop. The cherry on top? The location also includes a nail bar. Clean and classic was our manicure request and, using Orly’s soak-off Builder in a Bottle to rehab our weak nails, they nailed it (pun absolutely intended). We especially loved the Japanese cuticle tidying technique, which left our tips looking like we’d never lifted a finger in our lives. The pedicure services are also particularly luxe and should you need a little nail art to spice up your nail beds, they’ve got you covered. Love that they also use Kester Black!

The Medipedi Nail Spa

Unley, SA

We expect our feet to shuffle us from A to B, kick ass in that cycle class and still look spectacular in sandals. They deserve to be pampered, and not just with a pedi every other week—which is where this salon comes in. This company combines medical knowledge with nail know-how and offers clients services like their signature medical pedicure. This treatment includes a session with a podiatrist, who can treat any concerns like corns, calluses and ingrown nails (not glam but so necessary—and you might be able to get a health fund rebate), before a nail technician does the rest using polish from Dazzle Dry, Faby or OPI. Hello, happy feet.

Jocelyn Petroni

Woollahra, NSW

It’s easy to miss the street entrance to this cult skin salon. Tucked away on the first floor of a building in Woollahra, it’s where Miranda Kerr, Megan Gale and beauty editors (including Gritty Pretty’s own) go to get seriously good skin. Celebrity facialist Jocelyn Petroni is renowned for her holistic approach to beauty, and incorporates reiki and meditation into her treatments. You simply can’t go wrong with the Complete JP Experience in the stunning new Gallery space, where you’ll have a team of three therapists tend to your every beauty need, leaving you with a refreshed, glowing complexion and polished-looking digits. It’s also one of the few remaining places in Sydney where you can get extractions (we’re big believers in the pore-clearing power of a good squeeze). Joss, as she’s known to her devoted clients-slash-friends, is also the official Australian nail expert for Chanel. If it’s good enough for them …
