GET THE LOOK: THE TOUSLED PONYTAIL AT BCBGMAXAZRIA A/W 15

Standing outside the Soho Grand Hotel in New York City last week in –15°C, it was there that I discovered what winter really was.

The best possible styling solution to curb the worst wind chill in 20 years? A tousled ponytail.

In what some critics are calling a rebellion; designers, hairstylists and makeup artists alike are paving the way for non-trendy looks to become, quite ironically, on trend.

The tousled ponytail – considered the most simple, no-fuss and easy-to-create look of all – became even more in vogue when BCBGMAXAZRIA husband-and-wife design team, Max Azria and Lubov Azria, sent models down the runway with stray hairs flitting past ribbed knits, dresses, neck pieces, coats, scarves and… well, you get the idea.

While the show’s styling (which you can see here) would certainly require more layers to make it through a New York winter, the textured, disheveled ponytail coiffed by no other than legendary hair guru Orlanda Pita for TRESemmé will appeal to most (including myself!) – no matter the temperature.
