Every Little Detail From Our 2019 #OneNightOnly Beauty Basics Masterclasses

Three cities, three nights to remember.

That’s it! The annual Gritty Pretty One Night Only Beauty Basics Masterclasses are done and dusted for another year.

Over three events that spanned September and October, we travelled to Melbourne, Sydney and finally, Brisbane, to meet you, dear reader, and host a series of makeup masterclasses with some of the best in the business.

Thanks to our main partner Estée Lauder, there were plenty of beauty advisors on hand to match attendees to their perfect shade of Double Wear Foundation. The Daily Edited brought their custom phone case bar to all three cities – ensuring everyone went home with a personalised phone case. (Yes, everyone.) Free-flowing Moët & Chandon Champagne was on hand – plus, the choice of Penfolds Shiraz or Chardonnay.

There were plenty of tunes playing all night and a whole lot of laughs – we really did have the best time with all of you.

Did we mention that there was a gift bag? (Normally, we’re not ones to brag but we’ll be honest – this year’s gift bag was pretty bloody good.) At the end of the night, our beautiful readers went home with a curated selection of products from brands including Estée Lauder, Bobbi Brown, Aveda, Clinique, M.A.C, Moiya Scents, Slip Silk and Sally Hansen, along with vouchers for P.E. Nation, Mode Sportif and a number of our Little Black Book of Beauty salons.

At each event, there was a lucky door prize. (Who doesn’t love a freebie?) In Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, two lucky attendees took home a Foreo Luna 3, valued at $199. Trust us, these Foreo devices will take your skincare routine to the next level.

For those who missed it – or those who were there and want to relive the magic – we’ve rounded out a few of our favourite moments:

PANEL: Gritty Pretty Founder & Editor-in-Chief Eleanor Pendleton hosted a panel with P.E. Nation Co-Founder & Creative Director Pip Edwards and Makeup Artist Chantelle Baker.

LOCATION: Luminare, South Melbourne.

THE LOW DOWN: With Eleanor in conversation with Pip and Chantelle, we knew from the get-go that this event was going to be fun. Over the course of the night, the three shared their beauty tips, career secrets and personal stories on what keeps them going. The takeaway? Pip is busy (but always finds time for Pilates) and Chantelle has so many makeup tips and tricks up her sleeve, we don’t even know where to start. Her secret to a your-skin-but-better glow? Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation mixed with a few drops of Advanced Night Repair; this combination provides the perfect balance of hydration and coverage.

PANEL: Our own Eleanor Pendleton hosted a discussion with Fashion Influencer & Founder of Chronicles of Her Carmen Hamilton and Makeup Artist Filomena Natoli.

LOCATION: Beta Bar, Sydney CBD.

THE LOW DOWN: Ah, Sydney – our hometown and the place where Gritty Pretty One Night Only began just three years ago. Here, Eleanor, Carmen and Filomena chit-chatted about work, content – the kind that Carmen creates for brands and her own socials alike – and the secret a perfect red lip. We’re not too proud to say that we took notes all night. The one thing we’re still trying to work out? How to recreate Filomena’s effortless cool girl style.

PANEL: This time round, Gritty Pretty Founder & Editor-in-Chief Eleanor Pendleton hosted a conversation with Mode Sportif Founder Deborah Symond O’neill and Makeup Artist Emma Chen.

LOCATION: The Calile Hotel, Fortitude Valley.

THE LOW DOWN: Last but not least by any means, Brisbane turned on the charm for the final instalment of our event series. The weather was balmy (of course) but thankfully, there was plenty of Moët & Chandon to quench our thirst. The effervescent Deborah won us over with her bubbly personality while Emma shared her go-to products and had us in stitches with her hilarious quips.

Tell us, where should we bring Gritty Pretty One Night Only in 2020? We want to hear from you. Comment below!
