Every Detail From Our #GrittyPrettySaturdaySoiree
On Saturday August 17, Gritty Pretty – in partnership with Clarins – threw a Saturday Soirée of sorts at The Apartment in Sydney’s bustling inner-city suburb of Woollahra.
Over 80 Gritty Pretty readers enjoyed a high tea in The Apartment’s dining room, found tucked away above Hotel Centennial. Guests – including plenty of mother-daughter duos – laughed and sipped on champagne as they snacked on an assortment of pastries, scones (with cream and jam) and other delicious bites.
Gritty Pretty founder & editor-in-chief Eleanor Pendleton hosted an intimate Q&A session with well-known journalists Kate Waterhouse (columnist and Channel 7 reporter) and Abbey Gelmi (Channel 7 reporter and host). The three women discussed everything from career to social media, motherhood and, of course, beauty.

For Kate, her childhood was a little unconventional. As the daughter of iconic Australian horse trainer and businesswoman, Gai Waterhouse, she grew up in the public eye. “For my mum – she’s the most amazing, hard working woman – beauty and fashion has always been a major part of her life,” Kate told the crowd. “I have very fond memories of her going to the races and getting ready for a big day of work.”
Abbey also shared a few words of wisdom: “When you sit opposite someone and they’re really smiling and they laugh, that’s when you say, gosh they look great.”

Clarins beauty advisors were on hand to colour match guests to their perfect shade of Everlasting Youth Fluid Foundation. The brand’s newest foundation offers medium coverage with a Skin Tone Optimizing complex that creates a beautiful, luminous finish.
