The House of CHANEL has revealed a makeup wardrobe of neutrals with that classic touch of Parisian polish.

The French fashion House of CHANEL has released its Fall Winter 2022 collection and it puts the (double) C in chic. A curated blend of neutral palettes, the collection of lip and nail colours coordinate perfectly with the shades of CHANEL’s Ultra Le Teinte Fluide foundation. What does that mean for your beauty cabinet? A range of elegant tonal looks that pair back with each other—and work with your existing beauty staples—for a classic look.

Victoria Baron, the official makeup artist for CHANEL Beauty Australia, explained to Gritty Pretty how the range is versatile due to its focus on neutrals. “Despite being a makeup artist l don’t have a particularly large personal kit,” she explains. “I like products and colours that I can use for all parts of my life with ease. This CHANEL makeup wardrobe of neutrals has an ease, a classic polish and at times an unexpected subtlety with the most bold of looks. Each tone can be amplified, layered, blended, worn in, blurred or applied with precision. The creativity lies with the wearer and the mood they want to create.”

In the collection is a slew of shades with rosy or golden undertones across the Rouge Allure lipstick and Le Vernis nail ranges, all made to pair back with CHANEL’s Ultra Le Teinte Fluide foundation shades. As Baron attests, a wardrobe of neutrals offers endless options for creating a chic look that oozes Parisian nonchalance. “Experimenting within a neutral palette allows a freedom to create a range of looks, from a natural barely there wash to a brave impactful statement.”

The starting point for this nude-on-nude trend is to select your perfect version of nude, taking into consideration your skin tone and complexion. “One person’s nude is another person’s bold!” Baron warns. She suggests trying a few shades on the skin—“the right one will feel like it’s part of you.” Baron adds: “A nude should not feel washed out and completely muted, it should always complement and enhance. The tone should not fade away, however it shouldn’t take over either.”

Given the Fall Winter 2022 collection is all about layering neutrals across eyes, lips, cheeks and nails, Baron has some expert advice on achieving that: There is a beautiful harmony between texture, feel, tone, application, shape and longevity of the CHANEL makeup formulations. For me each colour collection gives a freedom of creativity in a safe space to experiment,  allowing the products to be made your own. If a colour feels too bold, try a different application technique. Apply CHANEL  ROUGE ALLURE and blot it off with a tissue or blend with your finger. A “worn in” softer lipstick changes the mood completely. On the other hand a nail or lip colour that feels washed out can be made vibrant by applying another few layers with confidence.”

If you want to know what Baron herself is loving from the collection, it’s CHANEL ROUGE ALLURE in the shade 196 À DEMI-MOT (we’ll take two). “I’m forever drawn to a lipstick. This colour on me gives my lips life and definition without feeling too overdone and heavy. The remainder from blending it in with a finger l apply on my cheeks. It gives them a creamy natural flush without looking like blush.”
