The Best Beauty Street Style Looks From Afterpay Australian Fashion Week 2022
The industry insiders show us how it’s done…
The weather may have been dreary and grey but the beauty looks at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week were anything but. Whether it was a sleek low bun held tightly in place by string or a fresh-faced makeup look elevated by the perfect nude lip, beauty was the ultimate accessory for the industry who’s-who.
With models, influencers, celebrities and editors all hitting the concrete at Carriageworks with a newfound passion for creativity and joy in the fashion industry, it seemed only natural that the beauty looks were just as inspired. Here, we roundup the best beauty street style looks from each day so you, too, can leave the house looking ready for the front row.
Day 1
Sleek hair and natural skin took centre stage on day one, perfectly complementing the bold outfits walking up and down Carriageworks.
Influencer and Le.mon founder Brooke Hogan kept it classic with undone waves that perfectly complemented her masculine suiting while model Jessica Vander Leahy opted for a sleek bun and mauve-toned nude lip. E News! host Francesca Hung showed off her luscious locks in a straight 90s blow-out style while actress Olympia Vallance rocked the ‘supermodel bun’ (made famous by Kendall Jenner) with warm, bronzed makeup. We also can’t get enough of journalist Jessica Rowe’s monochromatic pink hair and makeup (as well as her uber-cool pixie cut).
Day 2
Undone updos and bold lipstick stole the show as we kicked off day two in the sunshine.
Model and David Jones ambassador Victoria Lee opted for an effortless low ponytail outside Oroton while journalist and influencer Kate Waterhouse threw her blonde locks into a chic low bun (extra points awarded for the oh-so cool sunglasses). Our very own founder and editor-in-chief, Eleanor Pendleton, rocked a perfectly pink lip to tie into her day two suiting while award-winning TV host Renee Bargh went for a cool-girl take on the classic plait.
Day 3
Plaits were back in a big way (perfect for the wet weather) and it seemed the blue eyeshadow trend had made its way from runway to pavement.
Lawyer-turned-influencer Violet Atkinson made a subtle nod to the 60s with her kicked out blonde bob while Gritty Pretty’s own beauty director, Danielle Gay, kept it classic with French-girl undone waves. Plaits took centre stage before Aje, with models, celebrities and influencers alike all embracing the high-fashion take on a primary school favourite.
Day 4
The day to embrace natural texture and effortless updos, day four was all about glowing skin and cool-girl hair.
Models outside the Hansen & Gretel show opted for bucket hats to keep their sleek hair covered from the rain while industry insiders embraced their natural curl texture and showed off incredible mermaid-esque waves and afros. Effortless updos were also spotted at Carriageworks with the consensus on skin being glowing, minimal makeup.
Day 5
All about the blunt cut on day five, the hair once again took centre stage at Carriageworks.
The week may be drawing to a close but the beauty looks hitting the pavement are still seriously noteworthy. Our biggest takeaway from day five street style? Skip the flowing layers and opt for a blunt haircut instead. Whether that’s a punk pixie cut or a Parisienne-esque fringe, blunt hair styles are all the rage at the moment. Noted!
