WHAT I WORE
I’ve attended a lot of beauty events in my career.
I started in magazine publishing as a beauty writer back in 2007 after interning with Zoë Foster Blake (who was Cosmopolitan’s Beauty Director at the time). And, while I can’t count how many I’ve attended precisely, it’s probably safe to say I’ve attended hundreds so let’s just roll with 488 because, well, I like that number.
An average day for me is writing and filing beauty articles for Gritty Pretty and various magazines or newspapers; styling beauty shoots, product still life or swatches; catching up with editors and beauty publicists; having a WIP with my management team and attending anywhere between one to three beauty events in a day. Some weeks can even see up to 10 different beauty launches!
Therefore, work attire is generally a pair of comfortable black culottes or a flattering A-line skirt, a white or grey marle top and a pair of black heels.
But, for Gritty Pretty magazine’s recent launch at ACME – my first time hosting a beauty event rather than attending it – something a little more special was called for.
