This Necklace Can Save A Woman From Dying Of Ovarian Cancer

Purchase a Georg Jensen OCRF Heart pendant today and save lives.

In 2022, there’s still no early detection test for ovarian cancer. Let that sink in. A pap test does not detect ovarian cancer—no test does. And yet a study conducted by the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) found that an early detection test could increase survival rates among women from 46 per cent to over 90 per cent. In other words, if we simply have that test, we can save lives. But such a test requires funding.

That is why Georg Jensen continues its commitment to fighting ovarian cancer in partnership with the OCRF, to raise the urgent funds needed for this critical research.

For Dr Shabnam Gujadhur, an ovarian cancer patient, OCRF ambassador and one of six women to feature in this year’s Georg Jensen x OCRF campaign, produced by Gritty Pretty, an early detection test would mean other women don’t have the same experience she did. “I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer one week after my 30th birthday, in February this year,” she said. “My cancer has been said to be a rare type of mixed dysgerminoma and gonadoblastoma and it took weeks to get a proper histopathology report and final diagnosis.”

“This campaign means so much to me because more funding means more research into an early detection test that could make all the difference for other women diagnosed.”

Dr Gujadhur features in the campaign alongside TV host and food critic Melissa Leong, model Rachael Finch, activist and model Maria Thattil, and OCRF researchers Varshini D. Venkata and Isabella Moore. There is a clear message: purchase one of Georg Jensen’s OCRF Heart pendants and a portion of proceeds will be directly donated to the OCRF.

“All Australians should be alarmed at the realities of ovarian cancer,” said Melissa Leong. “OCRF exists to change this through their research, and thanks to initiatives like this one with Georg Jensen, there is a real chance that we can save the lives of many.”

Leong is right—ovarian cancer takes the life of a woman every eight hours and it doesn’t discriminate. That means over the next decade, 14,000 women will die from ovarian cancer. But with an early detection test, we can change these numbers.

The Georg Jensen OCRF Heart pendant is available in sterling silver, $250, and 18kt yellow gold, $1,195, and a portion of sales from both pendants will directly support the work of the OCRF. So far, Georg Jensen has raised more than $480,000 for the OCRF and with your help, they can raise even more.
