Contemporary Cool: At Home With Olive Cooke
Mid-century modern with a coastal twist…
After finding their dream block of land by the ocean on the Northern NSW coast, swimwear label founder and content creator, Olive Cooke, and her builder husband, Henry Tervenski, joined creative forces to build their dream home.
Where: The Northern NSW Coastal Town of Lennox Head
When swimwear designer and content creator, Olive Cooke, and her husband, Henry Tervenski, founder of Morada Build, envisaged their dream home, they imagined a light-filled, mid-century modern-inspired structure close to the ocean filled with creations and craftsmanship by their favourite Australian designers and local creatives.
Just months after falling in love with an empty block of land in Lennox Head – a quiet, laidback coastal town just half an hour south of Byron Bay where Cooke and Tervenski resided for five years prior – the husband and wife duo purchased the beachside land and immediately made said dream home a reality.
Cooke – the founder and designer of sustainable swim and resort wear label, Cooke and Kin – and Tervenski merged their talents in designing, building and styling and their mutual love for mid-century modern design to transform their vacant block into a breathtaking contemporary property in just five short months.
“We love mid-century modern design so this was a huge inspiration for us in creating the shape and design of the home,” says Cooke who worked with close friend and architect Hayley Pryor of HGA Architects on the design. “We also drew a lot of inspiration from our travels to Mexico and Europe for the colour scheme.”
Who Lives Here: Founder and Designer of swim and resort label Cooke and Kin and content creator, Olive Cooke, with her husband and builder behind the home, Henry and their dog, Pickle.
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home features an open-plan living area, a self-contained studio and a sun-drenched outdoor dining and pool area so glorious you’d be forgiven for thinking you had been teleported to a European resort.
