Conscious Collection: February 2023

It might be a short month but we have plenty to discuss!

Temps are up and so too is the sustainable beauty industry. There are so many new product launches, next-gen innovation and cool collabs happening it’s hard to keep up. Thankfully, that’s why I’m here!

In an exciting turn of events, radical transparency is in! While, yes, we’re still seeing brands participating in greenwashing, we’re seeing more brands being more transparent than ever. What does radical transparency look like? Brands who have a clear sustainability ethos! This will include a dedicated page on the website outlining the brand’s commitment to sustainability and its goals. We’re also seeing more brands release impact reports which detail its commitment, with many also providing details on its supply chain, methodology and current impacts.

NEW

Bio-based powerhouse, Biossance, has just released its very own vitamin A serum. This new serum contains two different types of retinoid ingredients–retinaldehyde and retinol–the closest to prescription retinol you can get! It releases slowly throughout the night so you can wake up literally glowing with firmer skin and fewer wrinkles!

TREND ALERT: DARK CIRCLES BE GONE!

Is it just me or has this year started with a bang? The summer holidays are just a mere memory. Back to school and back to work on top of an intense social schedule has led to tired eyes. But before you reach for another coffee, give these eye creams a go. Hot tip: water is also by far the simplest and best cure to depuff and help with dark rings.

SUSTAINABLE SWAP

Move over gua shas and jade rollers, these will have you rejuvenated and relaxed in next to no time. Massage globes started to trickle into our feeds last year but they are here to stay. Depending on your ailment, these globes can help everything from the face to the neck and shoulders. They are also a gentler way to remove under-eye puffiness and dark circles, encouraging blood circulation. Expert tip: pop these in the fridge for a refreshing wake up!

This is a great article that gives us an insight into the growing trend of collaborations between sustainable brands. It's really inspiring to see how this convergence of sustainability practices can open up so many opportunities for learning and growth in the industry. I'm curious to know what kind of impact this will have in the long-term?
