5 Minutes With Mica Argañaraz

The supermodel and face of narciso rodriguez’s newest fragrance chats all things beauty, scent and staying true to yourself.

Most models speak of their start in the industry as a lucky accident. We’ve all heard the stories about girls getting discovered by a model agent in a supermarket while buying bread, right? But Argentinian model, Mica Argañaraz, has never been one to leave things up to chance. Determined to a fault and paving her own way in the industry, Argañaraz burst onto the scene in 2017 when she sent a polaroid to boutique Buenos Aires agency LO. Since then she has conquered the runways of Versace, Givenchy, Celine and Chanel and appeared on magazine covers aplenty (including Vogue, i-D and Harper’s Bazaar).

But her most recent (and arguably most exciting) achievement? Being named the face of narciso rodriguez’s new fragrance, all of me. Here, we chat to her about her alignment with the brand, how she stays true to herself and what’s next for her career.

Hello Mica! Thank you so much for sitting down with us today. You’re the face of the brand new narciso rodriguez fragrance, all of me. What have you found most exciting about being the face of this new launch?

I’m so excited to be the face of a fragrance—especially from a brand that I’ve always loved. So much creativity and passion has gone into the making of this fragrance, and being a part of that and helping to bring the designer’s vision to life in the campaign film is something I’ll never forget.

You had actually already worked with Narciso Rodriguez on his runway shows. How was it when you first met Narciso Rodriguez and how has your relationship evolved since?

I loved walking his fashion shows and he is such an icon in the fashion industry. When you’re doing shows you don’t always get to spend time with the designer, as things are so hectic backstage at big runway shows. It was really nice to be able to spend time with him on this shoot and not only work with him again, but get to know him better. He’s so generous and inspiring. Working with him on the all of me campaign set, we exchanged creative ideas about how to capture the spirit of the all of me woman, and I’m really proud of what we achieved.

The all of me fragrance has many facets. Can you tell us a bit about your own different facets?

Haha, that could take a while! I feel like I can be ten different people all in one day! I have a very creative, artistic side, but then at the same time I’m also very driven and determined. I’m pretty independent and know my own mind but there are also times when I doubt myself and need reassurance from the people I’m closest to. I can be very different from day to day—some nights I’m the last one standing at the party and then other days, I just want to curl up on my sofa with something good on Netflix and a takeaway. I’m super social but I also need my alone time.

Seems like you’re a bit of a social chameleon! We love what you touched on about knowing yourself and listening to what you need. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

To not care too much about what other people think of me or how they might perceive me. It’s a reminder to stay true to myself and live life on my own terms, which has been important in my personal and professional journey.

Such great advice! And, to finish off, what would you say is your absolute dream project—either in your industry or outside of it?

I’ve always dreamed of opening a small boutique hotel somewhere in South America. A place where I can curate experiences, from exploring food and music, to getting immersed in the culture. I haven’t planned all the details yet, but I’m keeping this dream alive because it’s a project that really excites me.
