Jessica Hart Is Just Like Us*

*Except for that supermodel thing

When New York-based, Aussie model and founder of LUMA Beauty, Jessica Hart made a flying visit home last month, we got her into a studio where she posed for our cameras and shared a few of her favourite things, like meat pies, checking in with her mum and movie marathons (yep, we have so much in common).

Liner notes: Makeup artist Filomena Natoli used Dior Diorshow Pro Liner to trace a line that ended around the tear duct, which she softened with a brush, Diorshow Mascara, LUMA Just A Touch Lip & Cheek Tint in Muse on Jess’ eyelids, and LUMA Beyond the Brow Gel.

Golden girl: After prepping Jess’ skin with Dr Barbara Sturm Face Cream, Natoli mixed Dr Barbara Sturm Glow Drops with Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation to create a sheer finish, and applied Giorgio Armani Sun Fabric Bronzer and LUMA On The Glow Highlighter in Cashmere Casbah for extra radiance. That perfect nude lip? Marc Jacobs Beauty New Nudes Sheer Gel Lipstick in Dreamgirl.

Body beautiful: For those lustrous limbs, Natoli coated Jess in LUMA Beach Beauty Body Oil and On The Glow Highlighter in Cashmere Casbah. Love those locks? Hairstylist and Moroccanoil ambassador Peter Beckett used one pump of Moroccanoil Treatment on damp mid-lengths and ends, before working a mixture of Texture Clay and Styling Gel Strong through the roots and mid-lengths (and avoiding the ends). He then dried Jess’ hair using a diffuser (keeping the head tilted back slightly to enhance that pushed-back vibe).

Hart to Hart

Best bits about being back home: It’s my chance to eat all of my favourite Aussie childhood food like Ribena, lollies and meat pies! When I’m here I just try and spend as much time as possible with family and friends. I always love to check out new restaurants and pay a visit to Icebergs down in Bondi.

First person I call: Always my mum – I have to let her know that I’m safe. Then, it’s to White Rabbit in Double Bay for a coffee. That’s where you’ll find me as soon as I land.

How I stay fit: Lately I’ve been really into boxing. I love the physicality of it. I train with Eric Kelly at SouthBoX in The Bronx.

How I unwind: I love Mubi. It’s a selection of movies that expire after 30 days, so you get access to 30 new titles every month. The films are curated by people who work in the industry and are all really unique, from old and new, to international and arthouse films. The past month has been really crazy as I’ve been travelling a lot. I finally got to spend some time at home in New York and then in Los Angeles with my sister. Oh… and I broke my arm roller skating.

Current location: I’m on holiday at the moment in the Hamptons for the (northern) summer. Next on my travel checklist is maybe Italy or Greece for the European summer. I’m going with the flow this year.

In my shopping bag: I can’t stop buying Helmut Lang leather pants and Nikes. I have so many pairs.

What I’ve been working on: Our LUMA Liquid Light Illuminating Primer was a massive hit so we are developing new shades. We haven’t quite perfected the new colour and formula just yet. We want to get it right and these things take time, but I’m hoping it will be ready for the Australian summer. I’m super excited.
