5 Minutes With Delta Goodrem

We quiz the singer, songwriter, actor, and Revlon brand ambassador about her ride-or-die makeup tips.

Delta Goodrem really needs no introduction but we’ll give her one anyway.. a multi-talented singer, songwriter, and actor, Goodrem is a true force. With a career spanning over two decades, Goodrem’s journey in the music industry has been marked by hit after hit (our personal favourite is Lost Without You) but over time, she’s also become a beauty icon for her looks on and off the stage. Recently, Goodrem solidified that by announcing her role as Revlon brand ambassador. Off the back of a trip to the Northern Territory with Revlon and Goodrem, our editor had the chance to sit down for five minutes with the musician, so we obviously asked about beauty, her favourite must-have makeup products and what she never leaves the house without.

Hey, Delta! Describe your signature makeup look.
On a day-to-day basis, I like a natural look and to keep it simple. I like my skin to breathe. Minimal makeup, but I’ll do my eyebrows, curl my eyelashes, and put on some mascara and a lip. I also find that having a great brow shape can completely transform your look.

Who is your beauty icon?
Growing up, my Mum was meticulous with her beauty regimens. She took great care in the details. She didn’t go to bed with her makeup on and she passed that advice on to me. She always encouraged my individuality and taught me to have my own style from a young age. I also like to find inspiration from people I meet, makeup artists and social media has a treasure trove of creativity. Everyday life can spark inspiration for a new makeup look. It’s all about staying open to fresh ideas.

What is the makeup tip you live by and think everyone should know?
The great thing about beauty and makeup is that there are so many tips and it’s fun to try different things. One tip I have found is to use a bit of foundation powder on your lips before applying liner and lipstick—helps it stay. It’s a tip that we hear a lot, but I always wash off my makeup before I go to bed. My Mum shared that with me when I was growing up and it has always stuck with me. Longwear makeup! Revlon ColorStay Makeup is incredible –  I discovered it many years ago when I was looking for makeup that I didn’t have to worry about constantly touching up. Whether I’m on stage, or have a long day out and about, I don’t want to have to worry about my makeup coming off or having to redo it throughout the day. I use the liquid foundation and then the powder and it really does stay put all day.

If you hadn’t become a singer/musician, what do you think you would have become?
I started very young, with a vision. I always knew that was just what I was going to do. I didn’t think ‘That’s what I want to do,’ it was just ,‘This is what I am, this is what I do.’  I have always loved sports but I always knew this is what I was meant to do.

What’s the best thing about working with Revlon?
I am so honoured and proud to be Revlon’s first Australian ambassador. Revlon has always stood for and behind a woman’s individual power and strength. Revlon is an iconic brand that continues to evolve, develop, and push boundaries and their Live Boldly message is an important one—standing for self-expression, empowerment and recognising the beauty and brilliance in each one of us.

Last question—what do you never leave the house without?
My phone and in my bag, I carry an eyelash curler and mascara (ColorStay Xtensionnaire that is longwear) and a lipstick or lip gloss and my fragrance to keep it fresh.
