The Dry Shampoo That Got Our Beauty Editor Through Fashion Week

by ROSE GARNETT - In partnership with Redken

Not a want, but a need.

While Fashion Week does look like it’s all glitz and glamour from the outside (and at times it certainly is, don’t get me wrong), for the most part the reality of the week is 16 hour days, charging your phone at cafes and running (in heels) from show to show.

And while this reality may be a far cry from what is seen on social media, I still want to look and feel my best when I am hitting the pavement at Carriageworks. For me, that means finding every possible way to simplify my beauty routine throughout the week, without compromising on style. The best way I know how? Skip the midnight hair wash and go straight for dry shampoo. And that’s where the Redken Deep Clean Dry Shampoo comes in handy.

Be warned, though: once you go Redken Dry Shampoo, you probably won’t go back.

REDKEN DEEP CLEAN DRY SHAMPOO

The Sell: A high performance dry shampoo that provides maximum oil absorption on all hair types. Removes heavy oil for refreshed, clean-feeling hair.

The Price: $35.10 from Adore Beauty.

The Review:

The MVP of Fashion Week for me, the Redken Deep Clean Dry Shampoo has been in my bag every single day. My favourite lipstick hasn’t even experienced such love! Not only is the size absolutely perfect for carrying around and fitting in smaller-than-usual purses but the dry shampoo formula is like nothing I have ever tried before. Accustomed to the white, powdery look that most dry shampoos leave on the hair, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Redken one absorbs right into the scalp, soaking up excess oil and leaving you with voluminous, clean-looking hair in a flash. I enjoyed it so much that I even used it on clean hair to give my roots a little lift and provide weightless texture for that cool-girl, undone hair look that I am constantly trying to achieve. It also doesn’t feel heavy or thick in the hair which is a huge plus for any fine hair friends who may avoid dry shampoo for fear of feeling weighed down.

I also particularly like that the key ingredients are rice and tapioca starch which are both gentle on the hair and scalp but are also heavy hitters when it comes to absorbing excess oil. The formula is also cooling when applied to the hair and is dispersed in an even and sheer manner. This may not seem noteworthy to some but if you’ve ever had a dry shampoo deposit large blobs of white powder into your hair, you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Overall, this dry shampoo has been a lifesaver during Fashion Week. Not only has it kept my sometimes (okay, all the time) temperamental hair looking chic but it has also saved me an unbelievable amount of time on the hair washing front. (If you know me, you know my hair washing routine can take up to one hour from wet to dry). So, if you’re in the market for a new dry shampoo to take your hair to new heights (literally) and keep your diary manageable, I would say to look no further.

The Score: 10/10 (seriously!)
