#NOTSPONSORED: Why Oribe Texturizing Spray Has A Cult Following

Everything to know about this beauty icon.

New beauty launches fly thick and fast. Every day, we are presented with a new, you-beaut product—each promising to change our lives and ensure we never (ever!) get a wrinkle or have a hair out of place.

Despite all of the noise in the market, there are a handful of old-faithful products that have stood the test of time. Why? Because they work—and they have a loyal following of fans to prove it.

Previously, we’ve covered Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup, Crème de la Mer, Sisley Paris Black Rose Cream Mask and more.

This round, we’re throwing the spotlight on Oribe Texturizing Spray—AKA the iconic, black and gold bottle responsible for creating tousled I-woke-up-like-this-waves at photoshoots, fashion shows and hair salons the worldover. Launched in 2010 – just two years after Oribe itself hit the market – this product quickly gained a cult following.

Now, cool-girl texture (think: not too perfect waves) is the look du jour. However, this wasn’t always the case and we have Oribe co-founders Daniel Kaner and Tevya Finger, along with celebrity hairstylist Oribe Canales, to thank for that. Oribe Texturizing Spray is so brilliant, it helped spark a hair trend; this is the original texturising spray.

The Name: Oribe Texturizing Spray

The Sell: According to the brand’s website, it creates, “bigger, better, full-on glamorous hair. This invisible dry hair spray builds in incredible volume and sexy texture. Patented polymers absorb oil at the roots, leaving you with just-styled hair for days (and nights).”

The Price Tag: $68 at Adore Beauty.

The Fans: Kaner recently told Fashionista that one can of Oribe Texturizing Spray is sold every minute. 2.3 million bottles of the spray have sold to date.

In the early years, Canales tested the product on his high profile clientele, including Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell. More recently, Meghan Markle, Elizabeth Olsen and Kate Hudsen have all gone on the record as fans.

The Best Way To Use It: What makes this spray truly special is its ability to multitask without weighing hair down. It’s a dry shampoo (minus the chalky white residue), volumiser and texture spray all in one. Spray it on your roots and the formula will absorb excess oil and give your hair a volume boost; spray it on your ends for perfectly-tousled texture without crunch.

The verdict: This stuff is good. It’s an 8.5/10 from us.
