MELBOURNE’S TOP HAIR SALONS
Looking for the best hair salons in Melbourne?
Whether you’re new to the city or in search of a stylist to pull you out of a hair rut, Melbourne is teeming with ultra-cool salons. As we head into the part season (hello, summer) there’s never been a better time to book in for a fresh cut and colour.
To help you find the best salon in your area, we’ve compiled a curated edit of Melbourne’s top-rated hair destinations for your perusal. What are you waiting for? Chop, chop.
Melbourne CBD and Fitzroy
One of Sydney’s most celebrated hair stylists, Jaye Edwards and his specialist team have expanded to two centrally-located Melbourne locations: Fitzroy and the CBD. With a client base that’s growing faster than our hair after a trim, EdwardsAndCo is one of the city’s most popular destinations for a cut, colour, blow dry and style. With the clientele like Zoë Foster-Blake and Lara Bingle, these salons are well spoken for.
Both locations bring their own unique vibe to the table. In Fitzroy, the mood is jovial and the decor is bright, light and industrial chic. You’ll never want to leave this New York-style warehouse space. A host of talented local stylists and colourists (such as James Plain, Jaye Taylor and Charlie Gauci) are well-versed in the latest and greatest hair trends and techniques.
Over in the city’s CBD, this EdwardsAndCo location is equally as well-lit with exposed brick and whitewashed walls, vibrant artworks and teal blue swings hanging from the ceiling. This double-storey space is both playful and chic — just like cut you’ll get here.

Chadstone, St Kilda, Cheltenham, Chadstone and Maribyrnong
Just quietly, Oscar Oscar salons are slowly taking over Melbourne — and we’re not mad about it. (Not one bit!) With the brand’s original Chadstone location still going strong, Oscar Oscar have now expanded to St Kilda, Southland and Highpoint.
Not your average salon by any means, Oscar Oscar Chadstone is one to have on your radar (if it’s not already firmly cemented there). Whether you’re in need of a major hair update or a just pre-event blow dry, consider this your new go-to salon at Melbourne’s Fashion Capital. The talented team here are not only leading experts when it comes to all things cut and colour, but are also serious styling gurus — you simply can’t beat their signature blow wave, which will give you the soft, cool-girl waves of your dreams.

If it’s convenience you’re after, we’d like to introduce you to Franck Provost in Melbourne’s CBD. The ultra-chic Melbourne flagship salon is located inside the Emporium shopping mall, making parking a breeze. Of course, there’s a lot more to Franck Provost than just convenience. The brand – founded by Franck Provost himself – began in France but has now expanded to Tokyo, Madrid, Shanghai and beyond. In 2019, the Franck Provost name is synonymous with effortless Parisian style. Here, the highly-skilled team will ensure you walk out the door looking perfectly polished with that certain French je ne sais quoi.

JOEY SCANDIZZO SALON
For anyone wanting to enact the modern mantra: “treat yourself”, go here. This luxurious salon specialises in top quality pampering and service. Also go here if you want a cut that’s effortlessly cool and fashion forward – but personalised, and likely to get you compliments for days. The salon’s namesake is Joey Scandizzo, Australian Hairdresser of the Year in 2018 and one of the creative directors of ELEVEN haircare, which is stocked and used in the salon. Scandizzo is a big name in the hairdressing and fashion industry, and his certified A-team, led by equally talented brother John Scandizzo, has previously won Salon Team of the Year.
The eponymous salon of creative director and multi-award-winning hair stylist and colourist, Marie Uva, is responsible for the enviable manes of several high profile Australian women, including Jennifer Hawkins, Rebecca Judd and Nadia Bartel. Narrow with high ceilings, dark timber floorboards, and plenty of mirrors, the boutique hair salon feels both luxe and homey. It’s hard not to be inspired by the passion of the UVA salon team, who are all highly-skilled at every aspect of their craft. We dare you not to fall asleep during that divine head massage.
