Celebrate with us – the new issue of Gritty Pretty Magazine is now LIVE.

Captured on an unpredictably sunny day down at the idyllic hideaway, Little Bay Beach, our Summer 2018 cover shoot stars influencer, role model and businesswoman, Natasha Oakley, co-creator of popular swimwear website, A Bikini A Day and swimwear line, Monday Swimwear.

Behind the scenes, Sydney-based photographer, Eddie New, makeup artist Ania Milczarczyk, hair stylist Sam Overton and stylist Jessica Pecoraro, worked together with the Gritty Pretty team, to create a softer, more pared-back look for Oakley than you might be used to seeing.”Tash has the most incredible and clear skin so we wanted to highlight her natural features,” says Eleanor PendletonGritty Pretty Founder & Editor-In-Chief

The shoot perfectly complements the ever-so-real story in this issue of Gritty Pretty Magazine which details Oakley’s childhood, rise to Insta-fame and the demands and logistics of not only starting, but running, two successful businesses.

HAIR

LOOK 1: HAIR DOWN

“I used UEW TAME Control, which is a control cream and pumped that into dry hair, scrunching it in. Then, I blasted hair from roots to ends with BEACH sea salt texture spray. I let it dry naturally and just as we were leaving [Tash’s hotel in the morning], I blasted it with a hairdryer and scrunched it. No tongs were used, just scrunching in the right products at the right time. When we got [to the shoot location], I sprayed a bit more BEACH and scrunched it in. Throughout the day, I’ve been tweaking it with my hands.”

LOOK 2: HAIR UP

“We just pulled it back, no hair ties, and I put FAT DUST, a volume dust and dry shampoo, on my fingers and twisted strands of the hair, pinning it back and letting it fall out loosely. No hair ties were used because when you use hair ties it just sits too perfectly on the top of the head; we wanted it to look lived in.”
