Get The Cover Look: Elsa Pataky

It was a misty Byron Bay morning when Elsa Pataky drifted onto the set of the Gritty Pretty Autumn 2020 cover shoot…

Just as breathtaking IRL as she is online, Pataky brought an effortless confidence to our cover shoot in picturesque Byron Bay. Not easily defined, the actress and mother can now add author to her list of achievements: her debut health and wellness book, Strong: How to Eat, Move and Live With Strength and Vitality hit shelves in late 2019.

While her husband Chris Hemsworth may play Thor: God of Thunder, we think Pataky is a superhero in her own right. The actress is a household name in her native Spain, a Swisse Global Ambassador and considered a ‘friend of the brand’ by Dior – however, she counts her three gorgeous children as her greatest achievement.

With the dreamy Byron Bay coast as the backdrop, the day was one to remember with the coming together of some serious creative powerhouses to create the ultimate dream team. Brad Mullins was the hands behind the hair and Sarah Tammer was responsible for creating the natural, glowy makeup on our cover star. Windswept and ethereal beauty at it’s finest. HAIR

“Elsa washed her hair the night before and let it dry naturally. To start, I applied O&M Know Knott from the mid-lengths to ends. Then, I applied a 10 cent piece amount of O&M Project Sukuroi to the ends and combed through with a large toothed comb. I sectioned the hair and sprayed O&M Surf Bomb on the mid lengths. To gently dry the products in, I used the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer and diffuser. I used a large GHD Curling Wand to put a slight bend in places that need it; Elsa’s hair has a beautiful natural wave so I leave most of the hair uncurled. I took a small amount of hat elastic and tied it around mid-lengths for a very loose low effortless pony. A quick spritz of hairspray to finish.”

MAKEUP

“Elsa’s look is natural and luminous. Elsa already has healthy, glowing skin to being with – it was really about letting that shine through and enhancing her natural features. As we shot on location, I applied Ultra Violette Queen Screen SPF50 it’s like a moisturiser and sunscreen in one. I gently pressed Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder into the skin with a slightly dampened Real Techniques Miracle Perfecting Sponge. I used Charlotte Tilbury Mini Miracle Eye Wand Concealer under the eye – it covers dark circles, smooths and brightens. Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate creates a subtle contour and warm glow; I applied under the cheekbone and a little on the forehead with a soft Rae Morris blush brush. To give Elsa’s cheeks a natural flush, I used Luma Beauty Just A Touch Cheek Tint in Signorita on the apple of the cheek and a little bit pressed into the lips.”
