This Hair Product Is The Secret To Perfectly Imperfect Curls

I often compare finding the perfect curly hair product to finding the perfect partner. There needs to be a balance between clinginess and room to breathe and there also needs to be a respect for the flaws that make me (or my hair) perfectly imperfect. Oh, and the product (or partner, for that matter) needs to do exactly what it says it will. 

But this quest can be easier said than done. As a curly girl who typically straightens her hair, I need to be seriously impressed by a product to embrace my natural texture. But beyond that, I need to be able to not think too much about it. If I have to spend the same amount of time drying my curly hair and applying product in a delicate and very particular manner in order for it to work, as I do when I blowdry it straight, I’m opting for the latter. 

And, up until recently, I wasn’t convinced that the perfect, low maintenance curl product existed. That was until I was introduced to Bed Head’s Curls Rock Amplifier. Before you ask, yes, I’ve had to eat my words.

Formulated with jojoba oil which is rich in vitamin E and antioxidants to nourish and protect the hair as well as pro vitamin B5 to boost body and movement, the Curls Rock Amplifier is a real do-it-all curl product. I love it because I have been able to do away with layering (what felt like) 45 different creams, sprays and gels to get my curls to hold their natural shape while also reducing frizz and keeping them healthy. 

This product is also specifically formulated to respect your natural curl shape by providing a lightweight hold while enhancing curl and wave definition. In short, this means you don’t get any of that nasty sticky or crunchy feeling to the curls after you apply. I was left with soft, malleable and smooth curls that were also perfectly defined without the need to twist or reshape them before I let my hair dry.

What is also great is that you can apply it in a way that works best for your hair and your schedule. For me, when I wear my hair curly, I like to wash it the night before and let it air dry overnight (hairdressers look away). So, after washing my hair, I applied the Curls Rock Amplifier to towel-dried, damp hair and scrunched it in from the ends to define my natural texture. I applied it very liberally to ensure my very thick hair was evenly coated (spoiler: it by no way weighed down my hair the next day which was amazing). Then I went to bed with my hair still wet and woke up in the morning to soft, defined and frizz-free curls. It’s that simple! And that’s the beauty of it.

As it is designed to be an all-in-one product I also found that it boosted the volume of my curls without exacerbating frizz and I was able to make my hair last three days between washes without it appearing greasy. In this time-poor economy, that is a massive win in and of itself! Overall, I couldn’t fault this curl product. It smooths, reduces frizz, defines and leaves the hair feeling soft in one fell swoop. The only thing I am a bit bummed about is that I hadn’t discovered it sooner.
