BRIDAL BEAUTY:
SARA CRAMPTON

A wedding is the perfect excuse to splurge on your skin, but we get that it can be overwhelming. There are a lot of treatments and not a lot of time. That’s why Gritty Pretty’s introduced Bridal Beauty, a section dedicated to word-of-mouth bridal beauty tips from those in the know.

In this edition, we’re taking you behind the pre-wedding beauty routine of Harper & Harley Founder and The UNDONE Director/Buyer, Sara Crampton (née Donaldson). She married her partner of 5 years in a beautiful ceremony on her husband’s idyllic family property, a macadamia farm in the hinterland of Byron Bay, last October.

MY WEDDING-SKIN PREP…

“So late! I was so distracted with the planning I forgot to schedule in my beauty appointments, and then when I realised I only had 8 weeks to go so I called Jocelyn Petroni for help.”

MY SKINCARE REGIME…

“My skin was actually super stressed out in the months leading up to the wedding. Not ideal. So with just 8 weeks to go I went full detox, changed my skincare to Drunk Elephant cleanser and moisturiser and nothing else. I then booked in for weekly light therapy facials from Jocelyn Petroni and when I say my skin was starting to relax, she got me to start using Ultraceuticals Brightening Serum in the mornings. Just a couple of time a week at first, and we worked it up to daily applications the week prior to the wedding. She totally saved me, by my wedding day my skin was in really good shape and you could even say I had that glow that everyone talks about.”

I WOULD CHANGE…

“I would definitely have started earlier. I should know better, but as a bride you get sucked into a bit of a vortex. I also co-ordinated the entire wedding myself so I was more focused on talking to suppliers than I was focusing on my appearance.”

MY WEDDING INSPIRATION…

“Pinterest – I’ve shared my actual Pinterest wedding board here.”

MY MAKEUP ARTIST…

“I coordinated both my hair and makeup through Edwards and Co’s Byron Bay salon. Alexis Mahoney did an amazing job and totally achieved my natural and glowing brief. She’s actually listed all the products she used, here.”

MY HAIR STYLIST…

“I wore an off-shoulder Jane Hill Bridal dress so I wanted my hair pulled back into a low bun. My hair was still quite short so Nicholas Morley had to work his magic!”

MY LIPSTICK…

“It was natural nude/pink, which I’m sure was a blend of a few things, but unsure on the exact shade.”

MY FRAGRANCE…

“Both my husband and I wore scents from Jo Malone. Mine was layering Wood Sage and Sea Salt, English Pear and Freesia and Peony and Blush Suede. My husband wore English Oak and Hazelnut. I really love the idea of wearing a scent you haven’t worn before that then reminds you of your big day. Don’t underestimate the power of scent, it’s incredible!”
