The Ultimate Gold Coast Travel Guide

The Gritty Pretty guide to what to see, eat and do in the sunny Gold Coast.

From the iconic shores of Surfers Paradise beach and eclectic neighbourhoods of Burleigh and Broadbeach to the lush, green hinterland, there’s an unexpected experience and energy awaiting you at every turn in this golden sun-kissed city.

Stay

The QT Gold Coast

QT Gold Coast offers oceanfront luxury where time falls to the wayside. An idyllic place to relax poolside, spa, dine, drink, play and soak up all the coast has to offer.

Start your day with an invigorating yoga session on the QT rooftop lawn, loll about in a poolside cabana and drift away into a state of pure bliss at the SpaQ with a relaxing massage or Uspa facial. Kick off in the Hammam inspired steam room prior to your bespoke therapeutic treatment and then browse the menu for whatever tickles your mood on the day. The full body Relax Massage gives your overworked nervous system a long-deserved break, ebbing away tension and reinvigorating circulation and energy flow which makes it perfect for recovering a tired body.

Dine at Yamagen, QT Gold Coast’s fine-dining modern Japanese. Be transported to Tokyo in this dimly lit eatery and indulge in delicious fresh sushi, sashimi, and traditional Japanese favourites. Be sure to try the Spicy Popcorn Prawns and Sashimi Tacos, they are oh-so fabulous!

Discover a deluxe oceanfront room with playful pops of colour and chic vintage California vibes (Missoni bathrobes and Kevin Murphy toiletries included, obvs!). Find your inner zen and escape to a peaceful urban oasis in one of the six boutique Byron-esque rooftop cabins overlooking blissful tropical greenery while you watch the sun go down. These cabins are adorned with delightful neighbourhood amenities (comfy linen sheets, surfboards and jars of complimentary bliss balls and the like). The outdoor fire pit is also the perfect spot for an Aperitivo. Wherever you venture at the QT Gold Coast, the staff help you relax into coastal time and are incredibly friendly and professional.

Eat

Rick Shores

A modern Asian-fusion restaurant with a colonial twist. Perched in one of the Gold Coast’s most iconic locations, hovering above the sand at Burleigh Beach with an uninterrupted ocean vista, the fresh, locally-sourced produce at Rick Shores is seriously mouth watering. Moreton Bay Bug Rolls, Pork and Chilli Xiao Long Bao and chargrilled King Prawn yellow curry—all to-die-for dishes along with their signature cocktails. This award winning laid back restaurant is one not to be missed—a key favourite amongst the locals and touristing celebrities—be sure to book well in advance.

Social Eating House & Bar

Discover delightfully fresh Modern-Australian cuisine at this refined setting at the Oracle, Broadbeach. Share hearty plates of Moreton Bay Bugs, king prawn risotto with black truffle crème fraiche + caviar and BBQ sugarloaf cabbage. All incredible flavours on the palette! My recommendation is to dine at the bar and soak in the bustling atmosphere.

Mare, La Luna Beach Club

Fancy a little sparkle? Head to Luna Beach Club for elegant and relaxed dining at the onsite alfresco restaurant, Mare. Australia’s first floating beach club and the new ‘it place to be’ on the Gold Coast, this glamorous poolside restaurant has all the vibes—fresh local Mediterranean- inspired seafood, incredible cocktails and impressive yachts sparkle in the glistening marina vista. The Lobster and Scallop Ravioli with Abalone Sauce, Chilli Oil and Red Amaranth is superb along with the truffle parmesan fries, margaritas and frozen strawberry daiquiris.

Do

Soak Bathhouse

Embark on a wellness journey and drift the afternoon away at Soak Bathhouse, the go-to destination for relaxation, pampering and wellbeing. With mineral baths and spas, a cold plunge, steam room, traditional dry red cedarwood sauna, sun lounging and more, this is a place you must explore. Perhaps on an overcast day, when you need a break from the sun or a little extra TLC. Submerge yourself in the mineral waters, unwind with a Pimms or gin and tonic and soak it all up.
