Our Beauty Director Shares Every Single Detail Of Her In-flight Skincare Regime

Being a Beauty Director has (many!) perks and semi-frequent travel is one of them.

This year alone, I’ve clocked up a decent number of kilometres travelling to Europe, the UK and South Africa. (Is that a humble brag or just a brag?) And with each long-haul flight, I’ve tweaked my in-flight skincare regime in a bid to find the perfect combination of products to keep this complexion of mine as healthy and happy as can be. My two major concerns? Firstly, hydration – because those pressurised cabins leave skin drier than the Sahara Desert. And secondly, blemish control – my skin loves to break out both during the flight and upon arrival.

Today, I’m flying to San Francisco. (I know, right? Lucky me!) And at the risk of bragging again, after learning a few lessons from flights passed – namely: Summer Fridays Jetlag Mask is not for me – I think I might have selected the perfect edit of products for my long-haul trip.

To make sure I’m on the right track, I asked one of Australia’s top facialists, Jocelyn Petroni (she counts supermodels Miranda Kerr and Megan Gale as regular clients) for her thoughts, feelings, conclusions and tweaks.

Warning: This might seem like a lot and that’s only because it is. To quote the great Australian oracle Kath Day-Knight: “Yes, I’m high maintenance but I think you’ve got to be.”

Take off

Equal Beauty Cleansing Cloth: These pads gently remove makeup, dirt and impurities without drying skin.

Aceology Frosé Infusion Gel Mask: This serum-soaked mask provides a potent hit of moisturising ingredients. Yes, I’ll look silly but yes, my skin will be hydrated AF – so who’s the real winner here? Jocelyn’s notes: “For long haul flights, the sheet mask will start to dry out so I would leave it on for about an hour, remove and apply a rich cream.”

Biossance Squalane + Omega Cream: See point above re: rich cream.

Throughout

Equal Beauty Super Mist: Added to the mix on Jocelyn’s recommendation: “Throughout the flight I would keep a mist/ spritz handy to refresh and for a light hydration.”

Prior to landing

Ultraceuticals UltraB2 Hydrating Serum: This serum’s combination of hyaluronic acid and vitamin B3 (niacinamide) means it’s both hydrating and calming. “Before landing, apply the serum and the moisturiser,” Jocelyn says.

Biossance Squalane + Omega Cream: Application number two for this flight as this moisturiser is super nourishing without being too thick.

Rationale Beautiful Skin Superfluid SPF50: This SPF is light as a feather and doubles as a skin tint.

Tell us, which beauty products do you use on a long-haul flight? Do you have any hacks?

It depends where I am going, sometimes the wheater is more humid, other is more dry and it influence what I carry with me. But I am always cautious lol
