These Inspiring Real Women Reveal Their First Beauty Memories

This excellent post is brought to you by La Mer.

We all remember the first beauty product we ever bought, or perhaps even the three-step regimen we used religiously growing up. These experiences often form one of the first real memories we have not just with beauty, but in taking care of our skin. Interestingly, though, it’s not until you start to recognise your key concerns, and begin to see the benefits that a comprehensive regimen can bring, that you realise that they are so much more than just a product. Skincare truly becomes an integral part of your daily routine, a ritual, and often remains with you during different stages of life, even through changes in your skin tone and texture.

With that in mind, we ask five influential females to tell us a little bit about themselves, their first experiences with beauty and skincare, and the products they can’t live without.

Eleanor Pendleton
Occupation: Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Gritty Pretty.
She first tried La Mer: Six years ago.
Swears by: A combination of Crème de la Mer and The Renewal Oil for an instantly luminous complexion.
Beauty means: Having the confidence to just be at peace with yourself.

Name: Alyce Tran
Occupation: Co-Founder of accessories label The Daily Edited.
She thinks she is: Organised, a little intense, and just wants to have a good time, all the time.
She first tried La Mer: At age 16, when her mum treated her to a La Mer facial serum.
Swears by: A thorough skincare regimen, applying a face mask every second night, and being able to lie still (and not look at her phone).

Name: Elsa Morgan
Occupation: Makeup artist.
Her earliest encounter with beauty: With her mother and sisters, and how much they enjoyed the ritual of taking care of their skin.
Swears by: La Mer The Renewal Oil, pressed into her skin and along the high points of her face.
Feels most beautiful when: She’s exercising—Morgan loves yoga and going for a run, plus when she is hugging her kids, and, of course, applying make-up!

Gemma Watts
Occupation: Beauty writer at Glow Journal, presenter and MC.
She thinks she is: Ambitious, extroverted, outspoken, sincere, and a bit cheeky.
Swears by: Watts calls regular facial peels and vitamin infusions “the ultimate skin indulgence.”
Beauty means: Loving yourself sick.

Eva Galambos
Occupation: Founder of luxury fashion boutique, Parlour X.
She thinks she is: Fun, energetic, dramatic, fashion-orientated, and creative.
Swears by: Layers of Crème de la Mer to give her dry complexion an instant hit of hydration.
Her earliest encounter with beauty was: Watching her mother get ready to go out on a Saturday night, and how she couldn’t wait to look as sophisticated as that one day.
