Last Minute Gift Ideas That Your Mother Will Love

Because Mother’s Day is fast approaching.

When you sit down and really think about it, it’s hard to get your head around the amount of tasks that one mother can tick off. Our mums are the ultimate slashies. They’re the family Chief of Staff, our biggest cheerleader, a chauffeur, therapist and the chef that knows all our favourite meals.

So while every day should be Mother’s Day, this year on May 10, we’re taking the time to celebrate the wonder women in our lives. If your mum enjoys the finer things in life, one of these carefully curated beauty buys should do the trick.

Introducing the newest addition to the Sisley’s iconic Black Rose range: Black Rose Eye Contour ($190). While the key drawcard of this product is the skin-changing results, you’ll be just as taken by the luxurious experience. With a little help from Aqueous Black Rose extract to smooth fine lines, Oily Black Rose extract to soften and caffeine to de-puff, this light gel-cream instantly revitalises and illuminates the eye area. Our favourite part? The cold ceramic applicator – it provides a cooling massage and can wake up even the most tired of eyes.

With constant hand washing now the norm, hand cream has never been more necessary. For an affordable formula that does the job and then some, you can’t go past Go-To Super Handy ($21). This ultra-restorative hand cream contains shea butter, amla berry extract and macadamia oil to soothe dry and irritated skin.

As we move into the cooler months, our lips inevitably need a little more love and attention. Biologi Lip Serum ($24) is the ultimate gift. This single-ingredient serum – containing the water-soluble oil of the Australian blood red finger lime plant – soothes and repairs cracked lips. Lightweight and fast-absorbing, this product doubles as a daily balm and overnight lip mask.

Isolation skin is a very real phenomenon. With that in mind, locally-owned skin care brand Synergie Skin recently released a Stay Home Care Pack ($169) just in time for Mother’s Day. This limited-edition collection of four products contains Dermiotic (to restore the balance of beneficial and harmful bacteria, and prevent inflammation), Vitamin B (to rejuvenate skin), five single-use sachets of MasquErase (to hydrate and restore glow) and Sanitiser Spray (because, obviously).

There’s a reason why fragrance is one of the most popular gifts for mum. Fragrance is a little luxury that can provide an instant pick me up. This year, we’ll be gifting J’Adore by Dior. This iconic perfume is a perfectly balanced fusion of floral-fruity notes including ylang-ylgang, Damascus rose, jasmine grandiflorum and Indian sambac jasmine. Now available in J’Adore Roller-Pearl ($66), Hair Mist ($72) and Eau de Parfum ($240 / 100mL).

This one’s for the health-conscious mums. Vida Glow Anti-G-Ox ($79.95) is the perfect gift for the seasoned supplement queen or anyone beginning their journey to inner health (and outwards glow). Anti-G-Ox isn’t your average supplement – it contains a blend of natural antioxidant and anti-glycant ingredients to help the body protect itself against environmental agressors and lifestyle factors (i.e. excess sugar, pollution, smoke, fried foods, etc.). Translation? Regular use = regular glow.

Candles not her thing? Try a room fragrance instead. The newest release from French brand  Carrière Frerès does not disappoint. Infused with orange flower for a zesty freshness, Orange Blossom Room Spray ($79) revitalises a room without being overwhelming. Just close your eyes to be transported to pre-Coronavirus Italy.

Lipstick for Mother’s Day – need we say more? For the perfect your-lips-but-better effect, we love the universally flattering Tom Ford Beauty Lip Colour Lipstick in Casablanca ($72) and Clarins Joli Rouge in Spicy Cinnamon ($40).

Say ‘limited edition’ and ‘Glasshouse Fragrances’ in the same sentence and suddenly, we’re listening. This sweet-smelling (without being sickly) scent fuses notes of lilies with rose, jasmine and sandalwood. The playful packaging of Glasshouse Fragrances To The Moon And Back ($49.95) will take you on a scent journey almost as good as a holiday.

You don’t need to remortgage your house to buy mum a gift from the aspirational world of Chanel. The brand’s Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour ($41) comes in an assortment of bold and neutral shades to suit every personality – or mood.

The hand cream trio for the mum who has many a handbag on the go. Grown Alchemist Limited Edition Hand Cream Trio ($65) contains a standard hand cream (feat. vanilla and orange peel), an intensive hand cream (feat. Persian rose and argan extract) and an age-repair hand cream (feat. phyto-peptide, sweet almond and sage). She can pop one in each handbag, knowing she’ll never be without again.

We’re all spending a lot more time at home, mum included. World-renowned French candle house Cire Trudon recently released a new addition to its Les Belles Matières collection. Ourika ($135) is spicy yet floral, thanks to gardenia, rose and magnolia, fused with benzoin and pink peppercorn.

A gift that every mother will love. Australian beauty brand Leif has created a special gift just in time for Mother’s Day, aptly named Mother Love ($99). The set contains a large Wild Rosella Body Cleanser and Body Lotion, all wrapped up in a reusable drawstring cotton bag with a card inside.

Tell us, what have you bought for Mother’s Day this year? Or – better yet – what will you be requesting from your children or partner?
