#NOTSPONSORED: Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Capsules Will Transform Your Skin Tone

Everything to know about the beauty icon.

New beauty launches fly thick and fast. Every day, we are presented with a new, you-beaut product, each promising to change our lives and ensure we never (ever!) get a wrinkle again.

Despite all of the noise in the market, there are a handful of old-faithful products that have stood the test of time. Why? Because they work – and they have a loyal following of fans to prove it.

Previously, we’ve delved into the finer details of Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup, Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask and more. Today, we’re throwing the spotlight on Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Capsules. First launched in 1990, this first-of-its-kind single-dose capsule has gone on to become a skin care staple for women of all ages, across the globe. In a saturated market, what makes this product unique? We investigate.

The Name: Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum.

The Sell: According to the brand’s website, it is: “a lightweight, silky-smooth serum that infuses skin with youth-restoring ceramides and potent botanicals for a visibly smoother, firmer and youthful appearance.”

The price tag: $145 / 60 capsules via Elizabeth Arden’s website

The Collection: Off the back of the success and, frankly, results of the OG Advanced Ceramide Capsules, Elizabeth Arden has launched a series of biodegradable capsules, each intended to target a different concern. In addition to the Advanced Ceramide Capsules, three more variations round out the line:

  • Retinol Ceramide Capsules Line Erasing Night Serum (best for anti-ageing)
  • Vitamin C Ceramide Capsules Radiance Renewal Serum (to create a bright, even skin tone)
  • Hyaluronic Acid Ceramide Capsule Hydra-Plumping Serum (for dewy, hydrated skin).

An August 2020 launch date makes the Hyaluronic Acid Ceramide Capsules the new kids on the block. (So please, guys, let’s make them feel welcome.) Elizabeth Arden’s latest innovation doubles down on moisture thanks to a patented Double-Lock Hydration System that combines hyaluronic acid with barrier-strengthening ceramides.

The Ingredients: OK, back to the main event: Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Capsules.

These potent pods call upon the healing powers of an Enhanced Ceramide Lipid Complex (ECLX) to help repair the all important skin barrier, deliver a potent hit of moisture and give skin a youthful bounce. The brand’s signature ECLX combines three varieties of ceramides to support skin: ceramide 1 (to strengthen and firm), ceramide 3 (to improve the skin’s barrier function) and ceramide 6 (to renew and smooth).

[TL;DR: Your skin’s surface (i.e. skin barrier) is comprised of lipids (ceramides and fatty acids) to retain moisture and protect against environmental aggressors (sunlight, pollution, hot and cold weather). Over time, our natural lipid production drops, causing a myriad of problems. That’s where Advanced Ceramide Capsules come in… ]

The Best Way To Use It: Simply twist the tab to reveal the single-dose of serum. (It takes a few days to get this twist motion down-pat – by day three, you’ll be a pro!) After cleansing, smooth the serum all over your face, neck and decolletage. Initially, the formula feels thick to touch but it sinks into skin seamlessly – promise. After allowing the product adequate time to soak in (30 seconds should do it), continue on with the rest of your skin care regime.

The Benefits: Hoo boy, when it comes to the benefits, where do we start? Prior to re-launching the formula in 2017, Elizabeth Arden conducted a clinical study where women reported a visible increase in skin firmness, improved appearance of wrinkles, improved skin texture and a more even skin tone.

The Verdict: We’re long-time fans of this cult-favourite. It’s a big tick from us.
