8 Beauty Products Our Editors Can’t Get Enough Of This Month: July 2021

What we’re loving, coveting and “borrowing” from the Gritty Pretty beauty cupboard this month.

“Since being in lockdown I’ve made a new commitment to body care. Especially given the cooler weather, I’ve noticed that my skin has become dry, dull and lacklustre. Enter: Costa Brazil’s Kaya Jungle Firming Body Oil. Containing a blend of cold-pressed active ingredients (think kaya and cacay oil) native to the Amazon rainforest, this works to hydrate, smooth and firm the skin while providing antioxidant protection against free radical damage. I like to apply it to damp skin straight out of the shower and find that I wake up with skin that is nourished and moisturised. Gold star!”

“I need to take a moment for the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. My God, it is GOOD. Better than good, it’s great! The new flavour, Gummy Bear, is reminiscent of purple Zappo lollies or Hubba Bubba chewing gum. It nourishes my lips exceptionally well thanks to hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C and feels next level good on. I have also noticed that my lips are noticeably less dry the morning after applying. 10/10 would recommend.”

“If you’re in need of a little extra moisture, Aveda’s Nutriplenish Daily Moisturising Treatment is the perfect addition to your hair care routine. This leave-in treatment has been a saviour for my dry, frizz-prone hair during this wintery lockdown. Formulated to provide hydration that lasts up to 72 hours and heat protection, this two-in-one product is also a time-saver.”

“Once you get past the slight initial assault on the senses (PSA: I’m sure you’ve heard but this product has a very unique smell), this product will very quickly become your new skincare BFF. SkinCeuticals’s C E Ferulic Serum glides onto the skin beautifully and since using I’ve noticed that my skin feels plumper, brighter and more even-in-tone. It’s been a godsend because, let’s be honest, ISO skin is real. I’ve been wanting to try this product for a while now and can confidently say that it is 100 percent worth the hype!”

Brand Partnerships Manager

“So, I have a confession to make, this was the first time I’ve ever used a makeup setting spray and I’m grateful that I was able to start with a brand like Dior. There’s a lot to love about the Dior Forever Perfect Fix Face Mist Spray, the mist, the fragrance and of course the result. Being a first timer, what I did notice was that my skin felt and looked glowy for most of the day and that my makeup stayed put which was great. I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a luxe way to finish off your makeup look, knowing that it will stay fresh and locked in all day long.”

Kate Reeves

Art Director

“The most velvety, luscious black mascara with the ultimate lift and separation, the Kevyn Aucoin Indecent Mascara is a new favourite. Gorgeous to finish off a full look or on its own with a serum, this product will give your face the little lift it needs.”

Danielle Gay

Beauty Director & Executive Editor

“I’ve cheated with my Editor’s Picks this month and chosen two! But, since I’m the beauty director, I am totally entitled to…right? My picks are both by Drunk Elephant: one is a long-time cult product (D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops) and the other is brand new (O-Bloos Rosi Drops). But they do a similar thing! You add a drop of either to your serum, oil or moisturiser for a beautiful glow. With D-Bronzi, you’re getting a golden glow, whereas O-Bloos is more suitable for those with rosy complexions who want a blush effect. We all want to look glowy but that doesn’t necessarily mean bronzed. This is the perfect solution. (Tip: either can also be dotted on the cheek bones as either a bronzer or a flush of blush. Genius).”

Liz Finnigan

Senior Designer

“I’ve never been picky with my brow gel, but finally I get it! There’s a reason everyone thinks the Benefit 24-Hour Brow Setter is the G.O.A.T. Only a tiny amount is needed with one application and my brows are sorted for the whole day. And don’t get me started on the spoolie, with both long and short bristle options your brows are perfectly manicured in a matter of moments.”
