If the name Inika Organic sounds familiar, it might be because you’ve tried one of the brand’s award-winning products. Australian brand Inika Organic has a following for its certified organic skincare and makeup range but when the brand recently relaunched (complete with a total makeover) it was the makeup line that caught our attention. Inika Organic is the first makeup brand in the world(!) to be certified plastic neutral. That’s no small feat—they worked with Waste Revolution to achieve this certification, which confirms they measure, reduce and offsets their plastic use in order to retain this status. Oh and did we mention the makeup line uses 100% natural ingredients?

Inika Organic’s tagline is ‘Pure with Purpose’—something the brand is always focused on when creating new products. Each product is pure and natural, certified organic and cruelty-free, and these values inform everything the brand does. 

Gritty Pretty’s beauty editors were given the chance to trial the range and there was one product that stood out to us: Inika Organic Radiant Glow Veil. More than a primer, the Radiant Glow Veil promises to make your skin glow—so we put it to the test. 

Here’s the lowdown…

The Sell: Inika Organic’s Radiant Glow Veil (per the website) is a “light, highly nourishing priming skin veil that creates the perfect, glowing base.” 

The Price: $79 (RRP).

The Review: The Radiant Glow Veil comes in a beautiful glass vessel with a dropper that allows you to release the perfect amount of product into the palm of your hand. This chic packaging is earth-first, which means sustainability is the focus, and of course, as we mentioned, the brand is now certified plastic neutral.

The first thing I noticed about the formula is that it smells divine. The Veil uses a curated blend of botanical ingredients, including argan oil, which is rich in fatty acids and so rejuvenates your complexion, and magnolia bark extract, which has anti-inflammatory properties.

The formula itself is pearlescent and once blended into the skin the individual light-reflective particles disappear before your eyes so that you’re left with a naturally luminous finish. 

I trialled the Radiant Glow Veil in a few different ways. Firstly, it is the perfect primer—my favourite way to wear the Veil was on clean and moisturised skin as a way to prime before applying makeup. (I highly recommend wearing it with Inika Organic’s BB Cream as the formulas go beautifully together). Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, it fights free radicals, so it’s brilliant when applied directly to the skin.

At other times, I applied a few drops into my moisturiser (when not wearing makeup) or added some drops into my foundation before application. This worked well for an all-over lit-from-within glow. I also experimented with applying it over my bronzer on the high points of my cheeks as an illuminator, which made me look instantly more awake. Because the Veil uses aloe vera, it’s extremely hydrating, so it blends well with all types of makeup without drying out the skin.

What impressed me the most was knowing that what I was putting on my face was 100% natural, pure, certified organic, vegan and cruelty-free, while the chic bottle it came out of was sustainable and plastic neutral. It’s no wonder the Veil was recently given a Green Edit Award for best New Product Launch for Radiant Glow. After all, it’s one thing to have a beautiful product that totally transforms your complexion—and yes, makes you glow—it’s another for it to be natural, organic and sustainable.
