How To Create A Flawless Makeup Look For The Holidays, According To A Pro
CHANEL Makeup Artist, Victoria Baron, explains how to nail the sparkle of the season.
For the beauty obsessed, Christmas takes place only once a year, but the CHANEL Holiday Makeup Collection lasts a season. Inspired by the Roaring Twenties, the 2024 collection is a tribute to Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s spectacular dresses and is here to add a touch of luminescence to your look.
“The CHANEL Holiday Collection is all about light and how it captures the eyes, lips and skin,” says CHANEL Makeup Artist, Victoria Baron.
“Over the holiday season and as our social calendars fill up, the sweeping lights of the dance floor, bright flash of red carpets, top-lit moonlight, glaring sunshine and a subtle glimmering light of a candle at a dinner table will all take centre stage.”
“This reflects the subtle and more impactful elements of the collection inspired by the opulence of the 1920s, the art deco era and pivotal designs created by Gabrielle Chanel. It’s all about a feeling and confidence, the decision to lean into a space with makeup you might not normally have been.”
To celebrate the collection, we asked Baron to share her beauty notes for two head-turning looks that are sure to sparkle this festive season. As for Baron’s pick of the must-have item for HOLIDAY 2023?
“This season, I’m loving the CHANEL LE VERNIS NAIL COLOUR 171 SEQUINS. I love the mood of a black nail polish alongside the micro light-reflecting pigments which create a bright and fun effect. Try using it just on the tips of the nails or as an accent on a chosen nail.”

For the minimalist. Think: natural, golden, glowing
“Prepare and massage skin, starting by cleansing and hydrating with N°1 DE CHANEL POWDER- TO-FOAM CLEANSER, N°1 DE CHANEL REVITALIZING LOTION and N°1 DE CHANEL RICH REVITALIZING CREAM.
Create a light and second-skin effect with CHANEL LES BEIGES WATER-FRESH TINT for a fresh veil of radiance.
Lightly conceal under the eyes, sides of the nose and any other areas that need attention with SUBLIMAGE LE CORRECTEUR YEUX.
Lightly powder with CHANEL LES BEIGES HEALTHY GLOW SHEER POWDER.
Use an eyeshadow brush to add a wash of rose gold or green gold from the CHANEL LUMIÈRE GRAPHIQUE EXCLUSIVE CREATION over the eyes, making sure the shadow is close to the lash line and blended seamlessly into the socket. Curl lashes and apply two coats of CHANEL NOIR ALLURE mascara from the roots to the tips.
Give the face warmth and shape with one of my favourite products, CHANEL LES BEIGES HEALTHY GLOW BRONZING CREAM.
Using the included brush, highlight cheekbones, the centre of the nose, inner corners of the eyes and decolletage with CHANEL DUO LUMIÈRE EXCLUSIVE CREATION (avoiding any fine lines or blemishes).
Apply a hydrating golden glow to the lips using CHANEL ROUGE ALLURE LAQUE in 90 GOLDEN BEIGE. For a less natural lip, start by lining them with a deeper matte liner such as CHANEL LE CRAYON LÈVRES 162 NUDE BROWN.
Finish with a subtle and fresh coat of CHANEL LE VERNIS 167 WHITE SILK.”

For the maximalist. Think: opulence, glamour
“Prepare and massage skin, starting by cleansing and hydrating with N°1 DE CHANEL POWDER- TO-FOAM CLEANSER, N°1 DE CHANEL REVITALIZING LOTION and N°1 DE CHANEL RICH REVITALIZING CREAM.
Apply CHANEL HYDRA BEAUTY NUTRITION NOURISHING LIP BALM to clean and exfoliated lips (in preparation for your red lip!)
Create a light and hydrating base using N°1 DE CHANEL REVITALIZING FOUNDATION. Apply with CHANEL PINCEAU FOND DE TEINT RETRACTABLE N°103, blending evenly across the skin and down the jawline and neck.
With a damp eyeshadow brush (l like to slightly spritz my brush when working with shimmers) take the light reflecting black from LUMIÈRE GRAPHIQUE EXCLUSIVE CREATION and apply it as close to the bottom and top lash line as possible. Gently blend upwards from the outer corner of the lash line and into the socket with a flat eyeshadow brush. Pat a golden highlight to the centre of the lid and softly blend to the inner corner. Curl lashes and coat the top and bottom lashes with mascara. Make sure to clean up any fall out with a cotton tip.
Choose your red! The CHANEL ROUGE ALLURE L’EXTRAIT EXCLUSIVE CREATION in 857 MIDNIGHT RED or 854 ROUGE POUSSIANT. Create a defined bold lip straight form the bullet starting from the cupids bow and down to the corners of the mouth. Fill the bottom lip and blot with a tissue.
For more intensity, add another layer to the centre of the mouth. Alternatively, for a more subtle nod to a bold lip, take a cotton tip and soften the edges giving a “blurred effect”.
Finish with a high shine, opulent nail colour with CHANEL LE VERNIS 169 TUXEDO.”
