Get The Cover Look: Miranda Kerr

We take you behind the scenes…

It was torrential rain when the Gritty Pretty Magazine crew assembled at Smashbox Studios in Los Angeles for Miranda Kerr’s Gritty Pretty Magazine Autumn 2019 cover shoot, but the weather surely didn’t dampen anyone’s excitement—especially Miranda.

Warmly embracing our team as soon as she arrived, Miranda got to work, shooting for the first time with Australian-born, US-based photographer Sylvè Colless. In between takes, her eight-month-old baby boy Hart popped in on set to give his mum a cuddle, and Miranda sat down with Gritty Pretty‘s beauty director/executive editor Hayley D’Onofrio to talk the global expansion of KORA Organics, juggling motherhood and running a business, and the benefits of choosing certified organic skincare.

Her longtime makeup artist Lisa Storey—renowned for creating Miranda’s signature glowing complexion—used multiple KORA Organics products to keep Miranda’s skin supple and hydrated, while hairstylist Ericka Verrett worked with Miranda’s naturally gorgeous hair but tweaked it to create an undone, effortless texture. Stylist Monica Rose turned to chic structured jackets nipped at the waist, and cosy coats paired with vintage jewellery to give the sophisticated styling a cool-girl edge.

Here’s what went down on set…

“I loved this natural, youthful look on Miranda —she just glows and radiates beauty. For her base, I began with a 15-minute facial massage using the KORA Organics Noni Glow Face Oil and the Rose Quartz Heart Facial Sculptor, followed with the Hydrating Moisturiser to leave her skin radiant. I lightly used Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation and the Correcting Pen under the eyes, and on her cheeks I used La Prairie Radiance Cellular Cream Blush in Rose Glow. After adding a light application of powder, I dabbed KORA Organics Noni Glow Face Balm on the cheeks and eyelids to enhance a natural dewy glow. A touch of mascara on both the top and bottom lashes, followed by Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brows in Supermodel to enhance her natural brow shape. I always enjoy the versatility Miranda has, and it’s such a pleasure creating looks on her.”

“I used a straightening iron to create Miranda’s textured waves, enhancing her natural wave pattern and roughed it up a little so it felt lived in, and not too coiffed. Her base is so healthy and naturally shiny, that I used sea salt spray to help break it up and give it a raw edge. For the second look, I swept it back into a disheveled chignon, massaging the base with my hands to loosen the tension and pull some pieces out. I absolutely loved this look on Miranda—modern but with a feminine softness.”
