BEAUTY TALK: MIRANDA KERR

Miranda Kerr (or is it Spiegel now?) requires no introduction.

Life has been moving at hyper speed for the Gritty Pretty Magazine cover supermodel turned beauty mogul.

Apart from the fact that she just got married (in the most classy custom Dior gown we’ve ever seen), her beauty company KORA Organics – now almost a decade old – has also undergone some exciting changes, stepping into a new phase for the certified organic skincare brand.

Kerr exclusively revealed to Gritty Pretty the reason for the brand’s new look, what exciting products she’s got in the pipeline, and her response to Kim Kardashian West’s recent KORA Organic’s shout-out on social media.

GRITTY PRETTY: Tell us about KORA’s new look. What was the reason for the change and how long did it take?

MIRANDA KERR: When I started developing KORA Organics almost a decade ago, the ‘certified organic’ approved packaging options through COSMOS and Eco-Cert were very limited so we did the best with what was available.

But since then with the growth of the organic and eco-conscious market and advancements in technology, there are now many more recyclable and biodegradable packaging options. We worked on it for about 18 months because I wanted to get every little detail perfect, from the pantone colours to the functionality. I really feel KORA’s new look reflects the premium formulations inside, and also communicates our brand messaging and key points of difference better.

GP: You’ve also got some new products – how do they add to the existing collection?

MK: We have just launched a new Noni Glow Face Oil and Noni Glow Body Oil that are enriched with our unique ingredient Noni Fruit Extract.

Noni Glow Face Oil is a super nourishing treatment oil that’s great for all skin types, especially sensitive skin. It contains Certified Organic Noni Extract, Rosehip Oil, Pomegranate Oil and Sea Buckthorn Oil to smooth, nourish, hydrate and brighten. I’m so proud of the results from our consumer studies: 87% of people noticed that their skin looked brighter after 1 week; 93% noticed their skin appeared more even-toned after 2 weeks and 100% saw a noticeable improvement in skin bounce and improved elasticity after 4 weeks.

Noni Glow Body Oil is a luxurious but lightweight, multi-purpose body treatment oil that softens rough textures and replenishes skin’s moisture levels. It contains Noni Extract, Rosehip and Sunflower Seed Oils.

The other product that has been repackaged is the Heart Chakra Aromatherapy OilI had it specially made for me when I was going through a challenging time and I have used it ever since. It contains a super charged blend of Rose Otto, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang and Cedarwood. It also contains Rose Quartz, a crystal believed to carry a soothing energy to encourage love and acceptance of ourselves and others.

GP: Which product took the longest to get right?

MK: All of our products take a long time to develop because they go through a rigorous certification process. Even though it takes a while, it’s really important because some products say they’re organic when they may only contain one organic ingredient.

GP: Tell us, what are your makeup and haircare must-haves at the moment?

MK: My daily routine is very minimalistic.

Makeup: As a base I use the KORA Organics Tinted Moisturiser, KORA Organics Vitamin Enhanced Lipbalm on my lips and as a subtle highlighter on my cheek and brow bones. I curl my lashes and I’m good to go! If I need to look more done up my go-to brand is RMS Beauty – which was founded by one of my best friends, Rose-Marie Swift… It’s an organic line of colour cosmetics and I love what she has created. I use the RMS Mascara, Lip2Cheek in Beloved and Un Cover-Up in 22. For more coverage I use SUQQU as a foundation and my sunscreen go to is Actinica Liposomal 50+.

Hair: I love natural bristle Mason Pearson brushes, and use Pure Hair Food shampoos and conditioners. They do a great Protein treatment mask too!

GP: We saw Kim Kardashian West’s recent post on social media about how excited she was to try KORA Organics  – has she given you any feedback?

MK: It was very kind of Kim to post. I have poured my heart and soul into creating KORA Organics so it’s heart warming to see when my brand and vision is appreciated by any woman.

GP: Are there plans to expand KORA Organics into cosmetics?

MK: Funnily enough I am working on a few very exciting products in the cosmetic category that are based around Noni and Rose Quartz… but I can’t say too much just now.

I have also developed a skin food supplement that will be available in Australia in October. It’s a nutrient-dense superfood supplement containing Noni, Acai, Blueberry, Mangosteen, Pomegranate, Matcha Green Tea, Rosehip, Chlorella and Elderberry Flower for daily beauty and wellness benefits. I drink it each morning and because it comes in single serve sachets I carry a few in my handbag. Watch this space!
