THE HAIRSTYLE YOU’LL BE WEARING TO THE RACES THIS SEASON

This post is sponsored by Moroccanoil.

With spring festivities like the races and other obligatory workplace events around the corner, it’s time to learn new beauty tricks – or get better at old ones. Improve upon thyself. Make good, great. You get it.

Recently, we held a competition in partnership with Moroccanoil; giving two lucky winners and their VIP guests the chance to experience a beauty makeover, with hair styled by Moroccanoil Session Stylist, Michele McQuillan and makeup by celebrity makeup artist, Victoria Baron.

The winners, dressed by La Maison Talulah for the Moët & Chandon Ice White Trackside Party, with accessories by Samantha Wills and head wear by Helen Kaminski, got to collaborate with their “glam squad” and what surprised us was the hairstyle most of them requested  – soft waves. Obviously, under a hat, your options are limited but McQuillan believes that soft waves are a race-day winner, complementing structural dresses and headpieces worn on the day.

SOFT WAVES

STEP 1
Prep damp hair with a little Moroccanoil Treatment Oil, then work the Volumising Mousse through the roots to ends for more control and hold.

STEP 2
Blow dry hair using a small size Moroccanoil Round Brush. Begin at the front hairline and section backwards away from the face.

STEP 3
Spray Moroccanoil Texturising Spray mainly at the roots and tong in exactly the same way that you blow dried.

STEP 4
Use your fingers to break up and shake out curls after tonging. (Beauty Editor’s note: Do this just as you’re about to head out the door to ensure curls have set.)
Optional: Spray a tiny amount of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray onto hands and work through the ends of the hair for a more broken-up feel and end with a little Moroccanoil Hairspray for a great wavy finish.
