How To Get Your Healthiest Hair Colour Yet

It’s time to get glazed.

If you’ve been lusting over the luscious locks of your favourite Instagram it-girls, it’s likely they all go to the same place to maintain their healthy manes. Secret’s out: it’s Que Colour in Sydney’s Darlinghurst. With a team of stylists carefully curated by acclaimed Colour Director Monique McMahon, what sets apart this destination from the rest is their knack for creating stylish locks that are healthy, easy to maintain and give that lived-in look. Case in point: their best-selling service The Glaze.

What Is It?

Out with the new, in with the…old? Cellophane treatments are a thing of the ‘90s, before hair dyes of the 21st Century came in, and they are semi-permanent colouring treatments that helped those with virgin hair experiment with colour. Recently, it has been rediscovered by salons around the world for its non-damaging properties; it adds subtle colour to the hair, while simultaneously working to lock in moisture, add shine and promote thickness. Few have mastered it quite like Que Colour. So, we went along to see what all the fuss was about…

The Process

We began with a Sea Salt Scrub by Christophe Robin to exfoliate the scalp prior to the treatment. Cleansing the hair is an important step in the process as it enhances the colour strength and makes the application easier. “This is crucial in detoxifying the hair, cleansing the scalp and ultimately preparing the strands for colour treatment,” adds Que Colour founder, Monique McMahon.

After the exfoliant shampoo, the hair was prepped and ready for the colour treatment. “We started with the best-selling Cellophane Treatment by Sebastian finished with our Shade Variation Care Conditioner by Christophe Robin and the tone was a Golden Blonde,” McMahon explains. This is a step-up from the natural colour, but will still maintain a natural look. If you’re a low-maintenance hair girlie, this luxury in-salon treatment is perfect as it lasts and doesn’t require much at-home fuss.

“We add the glaze from the roots to the ends, enriching every strand which will glow from the cuticles and seal the ends for a strong and shiny set of hair.”

The semi-permanent colour is then locked in with a Heat Accelerator Hair Processor. This technology uses infrared which not only improves overall hair texture but it helps to lock in your hair’s natural moisture, while stimulating growth. Once it’s washed out, accompanied by a heavenly scalp massage, the hair is styled, glossy and raring to go!
