Nourishing? Tick. Hydrating? Tick. Versatile? Tick.

Every so often, a beauty product will take every social media platform by storm seemingly overnight. The Gisou Honey Infused Hair Oil is one such product. Launching in 2015, the brand was started by fashion influencer Negin Mirsalehi after an onslaught of Instagram comments asking her how she kept her incredible hair so long, strong and shiny. Choosing not to gatekeep her secret, Mirsalehi launched with her Hair Oil and the rest is history.

Seven years on and the brand has expanded to a range of 10 hair styling products to keep manes everywhere under control. With all products containing the brand’s iconic Mirsalehi Honey (more on that later), the brand has been on the up-and-up ever since it launched. So, obviously, we needed to get our hands on it and give it a go. Look at us, taking our job seriously!

The Review: If you’re a regular listener of our podcast, Gritty Pretty Radio, you’ll know that I have this thing about having good hair. As much as I’m embarrassed to say it, this mane is my pride and joy. When she is looking luscious, thick and frizz-free, I am one happy camper. With this in mind, it should come as no surprise that I am on some kind of mission to conquer all cult-favourite hair products (and discern, for myself, whether they’re worth it). Enter: Gisou’s Honey Infused Hair Oil.

After seeing this product pop up on my Instagram explore page for what felt like millennia before it was available (finally!) at MECCA in Australia, I was always curious as to what made it so dang good. It seemed that every celebrity hair stylist and their dog couldn’t get enough of it’s ability to smooth and repair. Can confirm: they were onto something.

I’ve been incorporating the decadent formula into my hair care routine for about two months now and can safely say that I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to go without it. Mind you: I have a lot of hair so, if you err on the thinner side of the hair spectrum, this may be a little heavy for you. Formulated with Mirsalehi Honey which is rich in vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants, the silky oil works to seal in moisture and add a silky shine. I like to apply it to the lengths and ends of my hair after blow drying and find that it also works wonders at keeping frizz at bay after heat styling. Read: no poofy hair post-blow dry. I’ve also been known to add a few drops to my favourite hair masks to really amp up the nourishment factor.

The best bit? A little goes a long way! I’m talking like two drops, max. And I’ve been told by hairdressers that I have enough hair for three people. So, yeah, you could say it’s also pretty economical.
