Due For A Hair Cut? Book Yourself In Now—For A Very Good Cause

If you’ve been putting off the ol’ chop and change, you’ve left it for a good time.

Huh? Why’s that, you ask? On Sunday, 30 July 2017, Style For Life Day is back.

Now in its third year, 100% of the money spent getting your hair done at participating salons on this day  (yes, you read that right – one hundred percent) will be donated to the Hagar Australia initiative, which helps rebuild the lives of survivors of human rights abuse.

Every year, an estimated two million people are sold into slavery. Statistics show that at any point in time, there are 27-36 million individuals in forced labour – and females account for 75% of all trafficking victims detected globally. These are statistics we are not and never will be okay with.

The one-day event, launched by Australian haircare and styling brand, ELEVEN Australia sees participating salons generously give their time – and proceeds go towards providing counselling, education and eventually economic empowerment through employable skills like hairdressing for survivors.

Style For Life Day has already raised over a whopping $161,000 since its inception in 2016, and over $43,000 last year alone. This year, they’re looking to one-up their efforts and co-founder of ELEVEN Australia, Joey Scandizzo, says they’re off to a good start.

“So far, we have a record number of salons on board and have launched a limited edition Miracle Hair Treatment to raise even more funds for Hagar Australia. All we need now to is to spread the word and to make sure we get as many bookings as possible on the day.”

That’s where you Gritty Pretty girls come in. Getting your hair cut and spending money you would spend anyway makes this a no-brainer. All you have to do it book yourself in on the last Sunday of this month. Go on, rally your friends together and make a day of it. And if your usual hair salon isn’t on the list, tell them about the initiative why don’t you?
