Casual hair never looked so glamorous. Simple ponytails proved a hit as intentionally understated styles. “The hair is simple, but the look itself is very luxurious, romantic and feminine,” says Palau.

GET THE LOOK:

Start by applying an anti-frizz lotion to damp hair, then apply a high-shine oil or serum to the ends. Blow-dry smooth and create a centre part. Then, gather hair into a ponytail at the nape. Add a black ribbon, then loosen the front by pulling hair gently. They key here is to not make it look too perfect.

Ballet buns were juxtaposed by bold brows and heavy coloured eyes.
“The hair wasn’t pulled too tightly and a few flyaways were left untouched, so the end result looks soft and pretty,” says Palau.

Regal elegance gives a polished touch to ponytails.
“I wanted the overall style to be a bit more severe than at previous shows,” says Palau. “There’s an operatic theme to the finished look.”

ALBERTA FERRETTI S/S 14

Alberta Ferretti convinced show-goers that braids could work equally as well dressed up or down.
“The messy structure resembles a hairstyle one might imagine a peasant girl wearing during the Renaissance,” says Palau. “It’s simple, soft and romantic.”

GET THE LOOK:

Prep damp hair with a volumising mousse before blow-drying.  Spritz on a heat protectant spray before taking a small curling to create waves around the hairline – you don’t have to be perfect with your curls. Next, gather hair and loosely braid, then secure at the base with a hair tie. Gently pull the braid to widen and spray on wax blast 10 high impact finishing spray-wax to add undone texture.
