Beauty Editors Top Picks – February 2018

As beauty editors, we get to trial A LOT of beauty products.

Hey, someone’s gotta do it. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

To be completely honest, a lot of what we test passes as mediocre. The beauty market is a competitive – and repetitive – space so it takes something remarkable to stand out. And when we do find something that impresses us, it’s worth sharing.

100% unsponsored, 100% tested by us, 100% recommended, read our team’s picks below:

Drunk Elephant Beste No.9 Jelly Cleanser, $49
“This month, I’ve been testing this cleanser. I’ve been paying attention to the global hype surrounding the U.S-born brand and after launching in Australia at MECCA, I was really excited to finally get my hands on it. The innovative cleanser removes all traces of makeup and any other grime from the day. The unique jelly texture is effective but super gentle. It’s also free of SLS, fragrance and essential oils – perfect for sensitive skin types – however the ingredients list does state it contains animal fats/oils/musks.” – Eleanor, Founder & Editor-in-Chief

Diorshow Pump’N’Volume Mascara, $56
“The mascara formula builds amazing volume with just a handful of strokes. The ingenious rubber tube also means I’m able to remove excess product by squeezing the tube while pulling out the wand, instead of wiping precious product on a tissue or around the rim of the mascara tube.” Hannah, Editorial Intern

Ole Henricksen Banana Bright Eye Crème, $55
“I love the texture of this eye cream, it’s not too thick to wear during the day which some eye creams can be. It contains vitamin C, which brightens the look of dark circles over time and illuminates instantly with banana powder. It catches the light just right when I am on the move.” – Morgan, Creative Director

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Tint Cream, $44
“I really liked this product, it has an SPF30+ and the tint gives a nice light coverage; great for a quick trip to the shops. The SPF is slightly noticeable on first application but after a few minutes you can’t tell and it has a non-greasy finish.” – Erica, Business Development Manager

Chantecaille Liquid Lumiere, $64
“Loving this lightweight liquid highlighter, I place it directly onto my t-zone before applying foundation with a sponge and it gives an instant luminous glow and radiant finish which lasts throughout the day.” Eliza, Advertising and Partnerships Director

Benefit Cosmetics BadGAL Bang Mascara, $42
“Being the follow-up to Goliaths in the mascara world like BENEFIT They’re Real! and Roller Lash  would have been a daunting task, but I’m pretty impressed with BENEFIT’s spin-off, BADgal Bang! Even if BENEFIT mascaras haven’t been your thing in the past, I’d encourage you to try this one out. It instantly tints lashes so they’re super dark. Incredibly lengthening and volumising, girls who love dramatic lashes and those lacking in the lash department will love.” – Wendy, Beauty Editor
