HOW TO CREATE A RELAXING SPA EXPERIENCE AT HOME

We get it. We’re all busy and not everyone has the time or money to go to the spa regularly, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a day of beauty pampering.

You deserve to relax and de-stress so here’s how (without having to spend a small fortune or even leave the house)… Brilliant!

SOAK IT UP

It’s Friday or Sunday night. You’re positively exhausted but you’ve survived the week. With just an hour spare to yourself, the first thing to do is run a hot bath. To add to the spa experience – candles and herbal tea are recommended – add a few spoonfuls of The Body Shop Spa of the World Egyptian Milk & Honey Bath to the water. This powder-to-milk bath soaks your cares (and aches and pains) and intensely hydrates your skin while you listen to Spotify’s The Weekend Wind Down playlist. Switch off the lights, grab your favourite book and unwind – that’s an order!

AIN’T NO SCRUBS

Once you’ve soaked, it’s time to buff and polish. A salt scrub like The Body Shop Spa of the World Dead Sea Salt Scrub will gently exfoliate your skin, leaving it looking younger and feeling fresher. Natural coarse salt crystals effectively remove dead skin while an aromatic blend of oils calm and rehydrate skin. When scrubbing all over, remember to remove any rings or jewellery so it doesn’t scratch.

THE MASK

Once skin has been scrubbed smooth, it’s time to jump out of the bath and remove any impurities or toxins caused by environmental aggressors like sun, pollution and wind. The Body Shop Spa of the World Himalayan Charcoal Body Clay is a clay body mask, which when applied all over, helps improve the look of the skin by helping to drawing out nasties thanks to added charcoal clay from The Himalayas, India. Simply spread a thin layer all over – paying particular attention to dull and tired areas such as the back of arms, knees, décolletage and forearms. Let dry for about 5-10 minutes and rinse off in the shower with warm water.

BUTTER UP

We’ve done it. Sometimes you’re too rushed (or it’s too cold) and you forget to apply body moisturiser but it’s a very important step in keeping skin healthy. Remember: your skin doesn’t stop at your face. While indulging in a little ‘you time’, opt for something more decadent and luxurious than your regular ol’ body lotion. The Body Shop Spa of the World Hawaiian Kukui Cream is a butter-textured cream featuring kukui oil – a nut oil used by Hawaiian natives for hundreds of years. Rich in natural fatty acids and alpha-linolenic acid, this super oil is quickly absorbed and deeply hydrating while the addictive holiday scent will evoke an idle spa experience… wherever you are.

GO FOR GOLD

Now that you’ve completely indulged and your skin is silky and smooth, you can’t neglect your hair. To finish your at-home spa experience, add a few drops of The Body Shop Spa of the World Polynesian Monoi Radiance Oil into the palm of your hands. Rub hands together to warm the oil and apply to the ends of your hair. This golden elixir, which is a beautiful blend of virgin coconut oil, sweet almond oil and tiare flowers, can also be applied to the body. We recommend it also as a nail, cuticle, elbow and foot treatment.
