STOP YOUR POLISH FROM CHIPPING THE NEXT DAY

Don’t you just hate it when…

You spend good money on a manicure and it chips the next day. What a waste! If even shellac isn’t standing up to the day-to-day wringer you put your hands through, here’s what official CHANEL official manicurist , Jocelyn Petroni, says you should do to extend the life of your polish:

1. CLEAN YOUR NAILS BEFORE APPLYING POLISH

“By cleaning the nail plate with acetone nail polish remover, this removes excess oil and dirt on the nail surface and anchors the polish so it lasts longer,” says Petroni.

2. CAP THE ‘FREE EDGE’

The ‘free edge’ is the edge of the nail and it’s where polish usually chips first, so wrap your polish just over your nail and “cap the free edge” to reduce the chance of chipping.

3. REAPPLY TOP COAT DAILY

To preserve the glossiness of your manicure, “start by washing your hands with nice, warm soapy water, dry them off and then apply a top coat to prevent chipping.” Do this everyday after your manicure for stronger and fresher-looking colour.
