5 TIPS TO MAKE NAIL POLISH DRY FASTER
Someone once said patience is a virtue. That person probably never wore nail polish.
You know that devastatingly painful moment, which so many of us have experienced: perfectly polished nails ruined in a matter of seconds. And usually due to random, unnecessary things like picking up your keys or going to bed too early only to discover nails imprinted with sheet marks the next morning.
When it comes to speeding up the nail dry process, these 5 easy solutions will make your at-home mani perfect (and more importantly, imprint-free)…
1. BIN IT.
Like other cosmetics, nail polishes have an expiry date. When you start to notice your lacquer has changed colour or the pigments have separated and you can almost see oil through the glass bottle, then it will take forever to dry so it’s time to say goodbye.
2. DRY ICE.
After painting your nails, dip your fingers into a bowl filled with iced water for a couple of minutes and watch your fingertips transform into hard nails. A natural reaction, the cold makes molecules stick together. Genius.
3. BLAST OFF.
Another simple, but practical solution. Simply switch your hair dryer setting to cold and blast your nails dry. Just make sure you have your dryer within hand’s reach after you’ve painted your nails so you can avoid any upsetting smudges.
4. COOKING OIL SPRAY.
Sounds crazy, huh? But, adding a light coat of cooking oil spray onto your nails is an effective way to make them dry faster. Plus, the oil hydrates hands and softens cuticles at the same time. Bonus.
5. LIGHTLY DOES IT.
Wait 1-2 minutes between applying coats. This allows the polish to dry faster and adhere better to the nail. And, instead of smudging a thick clear topcoat on top of your nails, go for a thin finish. Sure, it might sound simple, but a small detail like this easy but effective.

I swear by Seche Vite rapid dry top coat. It also gives a glass like shine and was my secret weapon when doing professional manis and pedis back in the day.

I use OPI RapiDry Top Coat - top coat and quick dry all in one - yay!
I read elsewhere that doing the ice trick also makes your manicure last less than normal drying.. But the other tricks I'm willing to try!
I discovered that sticking my newly painted nails under running water from the cold tap does the trick. Just in case you're out of ice. Might have to try the cooking oil spray sometime too. Thank you.
LOVE that cooking oil tip and the ice water! Who'd have thought?! Thank you!
