HOW TO GET THAT PERFECT SUMMER GLOW

These 7 simple and seasonal swaps will help keep your pores clear, your hair healthy, and your skin bronzed (not burnt!).

Follow my lead and make the following changes to summer-fy your beauty arsenal:

SWAP OUT: SPRAY TANS

SWAP IN: BRONZING DRY OILS

This summer, it’s about looking beautiful and bronzed (the healthy way – not the sun damaging way!). If spray tans aren’t your thing, try a bronzing dry oil for instant pay-off. St. Tropez Self Tan Luxe Dry Oil is easy to apply, fast-drying and non-greasy. This golden elixir hydrates skin while developing a golden tan using a 100 per cent natural tanning agent. Plus, it contains lemongrass, neroli and grapefruit essential oil so the bonus is you’ll smell like a tropical holiday after use.

SWAP OUT: FOUNDATION

SWAP IN: BB CREAM

During the warmer months, foundation offers the wrong kind of coverage. In combination with excess sweat and high humidity levels, it can clog your pores, but it won’t offer any sun protection (unless you happen to use a kind that touts it). A BB cream like Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35is much lighter and will keep skin dewy – not oily. Plus, it boasts SPF protection which is a non-negotiable. If your skin is in need of a little more coverage, try Clarins Everlasting Foundation SPF 15.

SWAP OUT: REGULAR MASCARA

SWAP OUT: WATERPROOF MASCARA

This one’s pretty self-explanatory. Between pool-time and 30-something degree weather, it’s best to avoid panda eyes. Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara in Brown is strong and splash-proof, but won’t require a bulldozer to remove (just some micellar cleansing water like Bioderma Sensibio H20). And, the best part is this wand’s dark brown formula gives a natural look that won’t break the bank either.

SWAP OUT: POWDER BRONZER

SWAP IN: CREAM BRONZER

Get your skin glowing with Laura Mercier Foundation Primer in Radiance Bronze. Then, after applying your BB cream or tinted moisturiser as necessary, crank up the contour with NARS Matte Multiple in Vientiane by applying it straight from the stick onto your cheeks. To do this, draw a Nike tick starting at apples of your cheeks and draw upward and towards the temple, running underneath the cheekbones. Remember: blend with fingertips until it’s even.
