3 POWDERS YOU NEED TO TRY

If there are just three powders on this Earth you must try, we’ve found them.

When it comes to makeup, we’ll go to extreme lengths to find the perfect product. That one bronzer that suits every single skin tone and gives the face just the right amount of glow. That one blush that suits every body – pink or yellow skin tones – and instantly brightens your mood. And, of course, that one eye shadow which every makeup artist can’t live without.

In order to put an end to this madness and to hopefully save you a few bucks, we thought we’d share a list of the top-rated makeup powders.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY FILMSTAR BRONZE & GLOW PALETTE IN LIGHT & MEDIUM

A cult product that has risen very quickly to global success.

Since 2013, when British celebrity makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury launched her eponymous range (Tilbury is responsible for also helping Tom Ford create his own range), the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow (in Light & Medium) product has quite literally flown off the shelves. In Australia, the range is only available online but fortunately that hasn’t stopped local makeup artists like Max May from using it on celebrity clients including Jesinta Campbell and Jodi Gordon.

Now, as Gritty Pretty isn’t one to buy into hype but rather into honest, efficacious products; we quickly jumped on the bandwagon and can confidently report this bronzer is worth every buck.

Housed in a rose gold compact, this 2-in-1 face powder can be used on both cheeks and eye lids and will contour and illuminate your complexion beautifully.

Get it now. End of story.

HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING BLUSH IN DIFFUSED HEAT

In the US, this pretty powder attracted a month-long wait list. Here’s why: Unlike traditional blush, which tends to be flat, Ambient Lighting Blush (in Diffused Heat) uses Photo-luminescent Technology to exhibit depth and dimension. This handmade (yes, handmade!) powder is also formulated using an advanced Miscelare technique – which means “to mix” in Italian – creating the perfect balance of pigment and powder, set in a unique marble finish.

The result? No two powders look the same.

When applying, we suggest softly smiling (to pronounce the apples of your cheeks) and sweep on using Hourglass Powder Brush. Perfection.

NARS EYESHADOW DUO IN ST PAUL DE VENCE

Francois Nars has a habit of drawing you in with his brand’s often unusual, but always fascinating colour pairings. This boiling orange duo – St Paul de Vence – is no different. Crease-resistant and versatile, it can be used on eye lids for a summer glow or on cheeks as an apricot flush.

Created using micro-fine powders, this eyeshadow is highly pigmented, glides on effortlessly and blends seamlessly to create an endless array of eye looks from subtle to striking. Each shadow is easily buildable and can be applied dry or wet using a damp brush for a more bold, dramatic effect.

The best part about this powder? There are no limitations.

Feel free to add to the list in the comments section below. Go on, sharing is caring.

I've used my Filmstar Bronze & Glow so much in the last few months that I'm almost hitting pan on the bronzer side. It may be hyped, but it's certainly not overhyped - it just delivers! =D
