How To Treat Puffy Eyes & Fine Lines

Let’s talk about your eyes.

They’re beautiful, obviously. But, the skin around them is also horribly susceptible to ageing. Being that is it so fine (roughly 10 times thinner than the skin on the rest of your face) with hardly any oil glands, attention must be paid (what age should you start? Answer is here).

We’re strapping you with a list of tips – more like a checklist, though – on how to keep lines and photo-ageing (sun spots) at bay. Better start now, alright?

DO: SLEEP MORE (WELL, AT LEAST TRY)

Sleeping is a great way to keep your eyes in tact, but not a 24/7 solution – obviously. The area around the eyes are known as high expression areas – when we laugh, cry, rub, blink  – we create fine lines. It’s a part of life. But, well-rested are are less likely to be tired and thereby less likely to get irritated and in turn, less likely to be rubbed. (Beauty Editor’s Tip: It might seem a bit extra, but sleeping on a silk pillowcase can help with reducing overall skin wrinkling).

DO: USE A CREAM EYESHADOW (OR LIPSTICK)

Another time we actively touch our eye area is when we’re applying and taking off makeup. Since there are hardly any oil glands around this area, we recommend using a creamy eyeshadow – or even a moisturising nude shade lipstick on your lids. And then setting it a powder, if needed. In the evening, swipe gently with a cotton-pad doused in micellar water to remove.

DO: WEAR SUNGLASSES (YES, EVEN IN WINTER)

A great excuse to justify investing in a pair of oversized Céline sunglasses. Protecting the eye area from public enemy number one – UV rays, is one of the best preventative measure since many women forget or forgo putting sunscreen on this sensitive area.

DO: USE AN ACTIVE EYE CARE PRODUCT

Elizabeth Arden’s iconic Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum is now available in an advanced formula specifically for eyes. Packed with skin-fortifying ceramides, it acts like dermal glue, helping to rejuvenate and firm the eye area, support collagen production and reduce the appearance of puffiness, fine lines and wrinkles in the area. Use religiously and your peepers will thank you.
