Designing a line of shaving products suitable for all hair types and textures, the brand is also cruelty-free and vegan and was created to add a sense of joy to an otherwise mundane (yet frequent) task.

Created for women, by women, Harding was determined to cultivate a brand that provided a chic shaving experience away from the typically male-dominated products or the hot pink female razors found on supermarket shelves. The Review: I’ll be honest, when it comes to the tools and products in my shaving routine, I was never fussy. Was I partial to using a men’s razor and whatever body wash/conditioner/shampoo I had in the shower? Maybe. And while this method always worked reasonably well, it wasn’t until I was introduced to Rebecca Harding’s brand new body care brand, LUI, that I realised what I had been missing out on all these years. Turns out, investing in the right shaving tools and products does actually make the results better and last longer. Who would have thought?

I have been using the LUI Body Shave Set for about three weeks now and it couldn’t have come at a better time with the recent heatwave in Sydney. What I noticed immediately about the duo was—shocker—the ultra-chic packaging. I know, I know, not the point. But, we’re kidding ourselves if we don’t agree that when something looks beautiful we’re 10 times more likely to use it. The ergonomic design of the razor was number two on the list of things I noticed right off the bat. Perfectly weighted for a seamless shaving experience, the razor features five diamond-sharp blades, enclosed in a moisturising vitamin E cushion, to give you that exceptionally close shave without the irritation and while rehydrating the skin. The way the razor is shaped also helped me avoid any pesky cuts which, if you know me, you’d know I used to experience a blood-bath grade nick about once a week. Trés chic!

Next up was the Shave Cream which, up until this point, I wasn’t totally sold on it being a necessary product in a shower routine. Oh, how I was proven wrong. Formulated with shea butter to soften the hair follicle and skin, aloe vera and avocado oil to calm and multivitamins to hydrate and illuminate the skin, this product is a game changer when it comes to a close shave that lasts days (yes, days)! It is also vegan and cruelty-free and I loved that the formula remained in cream form (i.e. didn’t foam up) when applied to the skin as it felt more nourishing for the skin and didn’t clog up the razor as quickly. It is also pH-balanced which means you can use it on more sensitive areas like the armpits and bikini area without fearing irritation. 

And while, yes, the set does err on the expensive side, with four extra razor heads included in the pack and 250mL of shaving cream at your disposal, I think it’s worth every penny.
