16 Discontinued Beauty Products That Will Teleport You Back In Time

Bring. Them. Back.

There are a lot of beauty products out there but not all are created equal. There have been times where we’ve forked out serious cash on the latest-and-greatest foundation, only to find that it pills on our skin. Or we’ve bought a mascara in a rush and discovered that it’s the best thing since sliced bread.

It’s a jungle out there — so when we find something that works, we hold it tight.

That is, until our favourite product is discontinued.

Sometimes, these discontinued products disappear and, thankfully, come back. (We’re talking to you, Lancôme Juicy Tubes and Revlon Skinlights.) But, unfortunately, not all products have been so lucky. Here, we’ve compiled a list of 16 amazing (!!) products that were devastatingly discontinued.*

*Let the record show that Gritty Pretty is in support of any and all petitions to bring these bad boys back.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser

Not technically discontinued, but a loss nonetheless, the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser was iconic for a reason. Now reformulated and not at all the same, the OG formula, that nailed the balance between luminosity and coverage, will remain in our loving memory forever.

Stila Illuminating Pressed Powder Foundation

Hitting the shelves in the ’90s, this foundation was a staple for many an early 2000s teen. Infused with mica crystals, the formula was one of the first to give a luminous finish (rather than classic matte).

The Frank Body Body Cream

A recent loss on the body care front, the classic Frank Body Body Cream was a king amongst mere mortals. Hydrating, nourishing and cruelty free? A devastating loss. RIP.

Urban Decay Naked Smokey Eye Palette

Arguably one of the most iconic palettes of all time, Urban Decay Naked Smokey Eye Palette was on everyone’s 2010 Christmas list. Perfect for emulating those iconic Kim Kardashian makeup looks, the loss of this palette was a huge blow.

Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser

A formula sent straight from heaven, the Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser was a mainstay in our skincare arsenal until it was devastatingly discontinued. Equal parts hydrating and clarifying, we haven’t gone a day without wishing for her return.

NARS Powder Blush in Seduction

While, yes, the formula is still around, the shade perfection that is ‘Seduction’ is no longer with us. Sigh. The perfect flushed cheeks shade, we still aren’t over this loss (and neither is our everyday makeup routine).

Miss Dior Chérie EDP

Likely the first ‘grown up’ fragrance you ever owned, Miss Dior Chérie was perfect for your teenage love affairs. Bonus points were also awarded for the cute as hell bottle that sat perfectly on your vanity.

Clarisonic

Yep, the iconic cleansing brush is in its final days. Claiming to cleanse your skin six times better than hands alone, we recommend holding onto those brush heads tightly before they disappear completely.

Estée Lauder Double Wear Water Fresh

You know we love an Estée Lauder foundation at Gritty Pretty so you can imagine how much we loved the lighter, more ‘daytime’ formula that was the Double Wear Water Fresh. This feather light, skin-tone evening foundation was a firm favourite and is dearly missed.

Mecca Cosmetica Foaming Cleanser

In our eyes, Mecca Cosmetica can do no wrong, especially when it comes to skincare products. Surprise, surprise, their Foaming Cleanser was no exception. Gone from the shelves but not our hearts, we’re not sure if our skin will ever fully recover.

La Mer Reparative Skin Tint SPF30

Another lightweight coverage option that was taken from us too soon, the La Mer Reparative Skin Tint was the perfect concoction of luminosity and sun protection. Will our makeup bag ever be the same? We’re still deciding.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in Opal

The OG liquid highlighter that got everyone hooked on the makeup trend, Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in Opal is sorely missed. The perfect glowy (but not too glittery) highlighter, we will do everything in our power to #BringBackBecca.

Origins Never A Dull Moment Scrub

Physical exfoliants that change your skin for the better are hard to come by. So, we are devastated at the loss of the Origins Never A Dull Moment Scrub. The perfect invigorating way to start the day, our morning shower just hasn’t been the same.

NARS Liquid Laguna Bronzer

The NARS Liquid Laguna Bronzer walked so that the Charlotte Tilbury Bronzer Wands could run. But can you ever really replace the original? Not in our book. NARS, if you’re reading this, please bring back our Liquid Laguna, stat!

Becca Light Shifter Dewing Tint

Another Becca product that we should have stockpiled when the brand announced its closure, the Light Shifter Dewing Tint was cult for a reason. The perfect no-makeup base for everyday, we are on the hunt for its replacement (no luck yet).

L’Oréal Pro Glow Foundation

Affordable? Tick. Radiant finish? Tick. Great coverage? Tick. The L’Oréal Pro Glow Foundation had it all but unfortunately is no longer available. If you were on it enough to get your hands on a few extra bottles, share them around, would you?
